There is a filter option to strictly map out dcFast chargers.
Where is this filter? Is it only present in Apple Maps when connected through carplay? I can’t find it on my phone even though it’s doing the EV routing.

Still not sure this is enough to get me to switch from Google Maps though. Apple needs to show real-time alternative route choices like Google to start to win me over. It’s invaluable to see options on the screen without having to do anything other than drive.

Limited use, but it's worked nicely so far -- and it's estimate of battery percentage on arrival has been very accurate so far.

So I got lucky, my car meets the base requirements. Updated my phone this morning and played around with it a little, but I don't drive great distances at once hardly at all.

So I've skimmed through the posts and checked Ford's FAQ and not seeing my answer. Does anyone know if you put in a route and you use more energy than what the car guessed at the start, will it auto update the next charge?

I only drive about 90ish miles a day and its all broken up in like 5 different trips lol I can't test it out very well. I am doing a trip up to Disney, but even round trip that is within my extended battery range.

I messed around with it a bit, something the ABRP I think is more useful for planning because it lets you set what your charge will be when you start and what you want your charge to be where you are going etc. The Apple maps just takes the SOC as is and lets you route based on that.... At this stage of the game with electric cars I would think very few people are jumping in and going on a journey without some fore thought.

If Apple makes the maps smarter, or let you feed in parameters it'd be great, but as is just a proof of concept to me.

Below are screenshots from Apple Maps on my phone with info it obtained the last time it was connected to CarPlay.

Thanks for sharing. Not surprising that this isn’t full featured yet. I can appreciate them trying to keep it simple, just enter your destination and go. But at the same time, very few people take a 300+ Mile roadtrip without giving it some thought ahead of time, even in an ICE.

Departure SOC and EV station preferences is what is needed IMOP to begin making this useful over A Better Route Planner (ABRP) or built in navigation. Just looking at this route makes me anxious that I’ll be routed to a 50KW DC station

Nice to haves would be the ability to save (and share) trips ahead of time, estimated charge duration times, trip cost estimate (and gas savings), and live Charger availability. Apple being Apple, we’ll probably have to wait until iOS 17 for any real quality of life changes. That said, Ford being Ford, my expectations are low to having my Sync version up to the required version by that point.

Took a trip over the weekend, said I was gonna have 48% left when I got there, ended up having around 60%, so it seems pretty pessimistic, I think I gained some on a couple hills, but this is Florida and there aren't many of those. Was way closer to accurate on the way back.

It's interesting though, the FordPass Trip Planner said I could get home without charging at all and still have 20% left,, but the CarPlay Maps integration suggested a 10 min stop at an EA station, I ended up doing that just so I could get some free electrons from my EA balance, charged to 80% and made it home with 50% SoC. Not sure why the discrepancy between the apps, but not a huge deal, seems to a least lean on the cautious side than the leave you stranded side.

I would never risk a road trip anywhere with Apple Maps not having offline maps like Google Maps…and I use an iPhone

It's all about redundancies, Apple Maps is my default mapping now, but doesn't mean I can't also download google maps and have it on standby if needed.

Can both work at the same time? Can CarPlay with Apple Maps have the same route active in the built in nav?

It actually used to until they added CarPlay to the instrument panel, now when you try to route on both, one will cancel out the other. This is how it worked on my other vehicles with CarPlay as well. I find it's not needed to run both at the same time though, both are very good, just use what you prefer.

I was disappointed when I saw that I have a lower version of SYNC 4 than required for this feature… but what really freaked me out was the line that said "Hands-Free Driving Mode available through 10-09-2022".

I was pretty sure that I had paid for three years of Blue Cruise when I bought my car… and that was in January, not in October.

Sigh…

Thanks for making some sense of that. When I go to check out my “Connected Services” at Ford.com, the appropriate date is displayed.

So it seems like it just gives you an idea of where you need to charge when you first head out. I hope that they are working on functionality where it will allow Apple Maps to update real time with current consumption usage and update any stops that might be needed. I guess the Ford Nav is supposed to do this, but from what I've read it does not do it very well.
