I know there are multiple threads about where to purchase an extended warranty from and whether they are worth the money or not.
What Im trying to understand is what exactly the extended warranty offers over the ford warranty. This is what ford covers:

  • Bumper-to-Bumper 3 years / 36,000 Miles (whichever occurs first)
  • Corrosion Perforation 5 years / Unlimited miles
  • Powertrain 5 years / 60,000 Miles (whichever occurs first)
  • Safety Restraint 5 years / 60,000 Miles (whichever occurs first)
  • Electric Vehicle Component 8 years / 100,000 Miles (whichever occurs first)

I'm considering 60,000 mi/6 year premium care for $630. After adding key fob and light options the total is $725.

This is Premium care coverage (https://grangerfordextendedwarranty.com/premium.html) -

So, for the first 3 years/36,000mi - is there anything that the premium care warranty covers and regular warranty doesnt (other than key fob and lights)?
What does 'Electrical components' in the generic warranty cover?

Am just trying to figure out what exactly the extended warranty will cover that the reg warranty does not.

i had asked the same question (why buy it now when first 3 years is already covered) the rep said there are some additional towing / loaner benefits but otherwise it's the same. that said it costs more when you go to buy it after 3 years, plus the warranty is transferrable and cancellable...

overall i do not regret buying the warranty at all, i got it from flood at rock bottom prices....

Thanks. That's sort of my attitude - 6 years of peace of mind for $700.
I guess I can really wait until year 2 1/2 to get the extended warranty.......

Keep in mind that the price of the policy will probably increase every quarter. I would buy the warranty as soon as you can.

Wondered about this. If I go to granger and switch to a 2021 with 30,000 miles, the quote only goes up $100. I also wonder if in general the cost of warranties will go up over the next two years (particularly as it related to EVs) and if it therefore makes sense to just get it now. Realistically, the whole conversation is at most about a couple hundred dollars, Ill probably just get it now and be done with it. Unless I dont bother getting the extended insurance at all.

that is literally why i bought it. i bought 8 years, i fully know/believe/understand that companies make $ on warranties. that said if you trust ford to make a car this new and not have more than 1 repair in 8 years you are nuts in my opinion. this isn't a corolla...

i spent the money and don't have to sweat it for 8 years

Do you know if the PremiumCare covers BEV components? I was thinking of doing 100,000 miles for 10 years but would i be out of luck in years 9 and 10 if the battery goes out? Is PremiumCare just an extension of the bumper 2 bumper 3 year or are there really things not covered still?

My understanding is that the Premium Care is the same as the 3/36,000 bumper to bumper. Except for the battery modules covered with the 8/100,000 warranty.

@david2 that is not the right extended warranty, that is for gas vehicles. Post #8 is the right coverage.

Cost of warranty goes up every now and then, I believe there was a price hike in the last 90 days. Probably stable for a while.
