For the past couple of weeks, when I enter my garage while my MME is charging, I am noticing a faint electrical burning smell. I am using a Grizzl-E standard EVSE set to 40 Amps for charging. I cannot tell where the smell is coming from. It does not seem stronger from the charging point on the car or from the EVSE itself or along the cable. Has anyone else noticed any kind of burning smell while charging? I have absolutely no idea where it is coming from, but it only happens while charging. I haven't noticed it elsewhere while charging, but I am usually outdoors when charging anywhere else. I definitely don't want to burn my garage down or damage the car.

This could be anything from the wiring to your plug plus all you mentioned. May need to start with an electrician and go from there. Definitely not good.

Turn off breaker, call electrician.

Likely will just need to replace outlet...

Before I had the Grizzl-e, the Ford mobile charger would occasionally get an amber light on it and stop charging the car. No idea if it could be related, but now I'm wondering if there could be a bigger issue with the install. Oh well, I will have an electrician out to take a look! Thanks again!

When they replace that outlet, and they will replace that outlet, tell them you would like a commercial grade outlet. They have better components in them and they aren’t much more expensive.

Go on YouTube and search for this video, great info. I'm sure a lot of Mach-E owners have watched it, but yes a Niema 14-50 outlet is what you need.

It's possible. It may have had the amber light due to a poor connection.

Now that it's unplugged, do it look like the plug itself was corroded or "burnt".
