I'm having trouble getting USB updates to work (this is where FDRS prompts you to insert a flash drive and it copies files to the USB disk and then you insert said drive into Sync). After the update successfully completes (according to the Sync screen), it says that I can get out of the vehicle at my leisure, and that Sync requires a restart for the changes to take effect. I dutifully do so, but no matter what I do - open/close driver's door, Volume Down + Next Track steering wheel reset, etc., the update doesn't seem to "take". During the post-installation check, FDRS complains that the software part number doesn't match what's expected; in fact, it looks like it just has the old software still.

What am I doing wrong?

You need to let the car shutdown and reboot while the thumb drive is still plugged in. After it comes back up, it will again say it’s done, and then it’s REALLY done, apparently. At that point, you can take out the thumb drive. (I haven’t done this myself yet, but I’ve bought all the equipment and have been memorizing the FDRS threads here.)

Yep, I recall reading that several members had an issue until they followed the process of shut down, let sit a little bit, get back in and reboot, then wait until Sync says it’s done. ??
EDIT: Some people say to wait 5-10 minutes after shut-down before getting back in. Someone recently posted that you just need to wait until the LEDs on the headlight switch extinguish. ??

Well of course, that makes so much sense ??. Thank you both for your input - I tried leaving the USB drive in and ran the FDRS module check and it worked :)
