Mark, it doesn't look like there is room to surface charge a phone with the Chinese version. Is it just an optical distortion?
Hey Mike, sorry didn't get back to you sooner. It was mentioned earlier by LocoEngineer that the phone goes sideways. I wanted to elaborate on that and not only does it go sideways, there is room for only one phone with a little small space behind it. So no more huge open tray for a bunch of crap to collect. Not that I had anything in that tray besides my phone but I've seen quite a few Mach-E's and there always seems to be a bunch of random stuff in that area. Not having a huge open tray for some might be an issue but for me it has a cleaner look.

I took a few new photos of the console at a different angle and some close ups so you can see the cup holders and phone charging area a bit better.

In this photo you posted of the console's rear, is that gloss black panel a separate piece (applique) you can add to ours or a completely different part? Ours looks so plain next to the other one.

It is not a panel that is slapped on to the one we have here in the US. It is a completely different part which is gloss black with a silver metallic trim around the edge.

Thanks for the reply and the next time you talk to Bruce, ask how difficult it would be to acquire just that rear part of the console. I don't care if it is used like yours or not. Thanks!

What is wrong with the sunglasses holder in the roof console? 🙂
That’s where mine go, it is one of the features I really love. This is the first car I have owned that had it. Especially since I have wear prescription glasses all the time. During the day I switch them.

How difficult would it be to spruce up the Mach-E a bit? They can leave the exterior basically alone but maybe add a power frunk hood like the Lightning, bi-directional charging, much nicer interior, stereo, etc. I would gladly pay more for all of this and I personally know a few other members that would too.
This has bothered me for years. And Ford is certainly not the only manufacturer who does this. Chevy did the same with the Bolt, for example - very cheap interior, for no good reason, and refused to offer a nicer option at any price.

It seems obvious to me that most people buying electric cars have money and are willing to pay for luxury features. Why do manufacturers insist that we only want cheap-looking cars?

I think you can blame it on the US market, or at least at what the US manufacturers think the market is. it might seem like a simple thing to just add an option, but every variation can be very expensive to put into the flow. And so the manufacturer has to believe that they would actually make money on them.

What they rather do is target the “main market”, this the reason you can’t get the same cars in US vs the EU Vs China.

Agree and again, why is there a Lincoln version of every Ford SUV EXCEPT the Mach-E? Lincoln has no EV in the lineup and can't be that difficult to come up with an ultra luxury version of the Mach-E.

Well considering at first all Ford was going to do was create a compliance vehicle to avoid fines (which doesn’t even count now because of the current administration) we are lucky we even got the Mach-E. And given the current headwinds and clear messaging from the CEO of Ford it doesn’t seem like there is any belief in the US EV market in the short term, let alone a luxury Mach-E.

The BEV market for Ford looks pretty good to me.:

The problem is they can't yet sell them at a profit.
