What’s a fob?
Sponsored
The dude in the video REALLY needs to wash his hands!come on... That's too easy....
Instead of picking up a CR2450 battery from a local store, wouldn't it be better to go to your local Ford dealer, wait for an available advisor, ask them to write up a warranty ticket for the key fob battery, wait for parts to pull the battery, send it to a tech to install the battery, give the paperwork back to the advisor so they could book the warranty time, print out the invoice for signatures and then go out to test it?
Wait... Now I see what you were saying originally....

I believe there is a slot inside the center console you can put the key, and it will start the car with Fob battery dead.I think she's still gonna want to know the door code, but isn't it possible to hold the key fob to a certain spot to allow the car to be started? Maybe it's along the right side of the steering column or maybe it's the fob programming spot inside the center console. I can't remember which.

Pfft. They can use COPIS to get the battery faster. But parts will have to order the battery because they won’t have it in stock, and of course it will be on back-order. So then you’ll have to arrange for a loaner while you’re car is in the shop and of course they’ll give you a BASE (and I mean BASE) EcoSport to tool around in while they wait for the battery to arrive, then for the tech to install it. Of course, by then, your car will have forgotten all your SiriusXM presets and your PAAK

Yeah, it could be seen as piling on. FWIW, my fob battery went dead at 1 year. The one I replaced it with is still going strong, haha very funny
I'm just pissed because it happened on the same day I got a push message on FordPass that I have to give away all my personal information, car sensor data, and allow auto-updates to everything that I don't want... or delete FordPass and stop using PAAK.
I get it and the whole thing is pretty frustrating, especially when you are not even there and it becomes all your fault. As I am sure you know we weren't making fun of you, but just trying to add a little levity to the situationhaha very funny

really not feeling the Levity todayI get it and the whole thing is pretty frustrating, especially when you are not even there and it becomes all your fault. As I am sure you know we weren't making fun of you, but just trying to add a little levity to the situation
One of my keys for my Fusion had its battery die less than one year in. The other key’s battery worked for almost 3. New stock batteries for one, old stock for the other.Yeah, it could be seen as piling on. FWIW, my fob battery went dead at 1 year. The one I replaced it with is still going strong,
I recommend that you add another door code that’s something she’ll remember. Maybe her birthday or something?I do remember the pillar code, but I was not there to tell her, so it became my fault...
HER birthday ?! Who says I can ever remember that..... oh, wait, that's a different problem.I recommend that you add another door code that’s something she’ll remember. Maybe her birthday or something?
The key doesn't know it's in foil. It just does its job, which includes using energy to emit radiation periodically so that you can conveniently open a car door without touching the key. It's possible Ford bought the cheapest, lowest capacity battery to put in the FOB. I've usually gone 5+ years without replacing my FOB batteries.
The more likely explanation is that you stored the key inside the car, and it was constantly 'on' in the vehicle 24/7. Yes, you wrapped it in tin foil, but...

"Your key fob in tin foil or aluminum foil, it may dampen the signal depending upon how close you are, but it won't completely eliminate it."
