I am confused about the mobil charger. Doesn't it come with
a 14/50 plug only ? How is anyone going to plug into a 30 amp recp ?

You should never plug it into a 30A receptacle. The mobile charger will overload a 30 amp circuit. It has 30A continuous draw. Most breakers require a rating of 125% of continuous draw.

Slightly more, I think (32A).

Somewhere way back I thought I read that it would self-detect though. Still not quite sure how it could do that, unless there's a pigtail adapter that somehow signals the charger to drop to 24A (for a 30A circuit).

Yes, that sounds right. Either way it won't work on a 30A circuit. You'd need a 24A EVSE for a 30A circuit.

Yes all is very true. I was speaking of what"katumba1" was going
to do if he has a good 30 amp circuit.

Are you saying the Mach-e supplied 220v mobile charger won't work on a 30a 220 plug? I must be missing something....

That is exactly what I am saying. That is why it comes with a 14-50 plug.

Not unless it has the ability to lower it's power draw (which we're unsure if it does).

If you plug any device that tries to pull 32A into a circuit with a 30A circuit breaker on it, you'll likely trip the breaker.

The max draw you're supposed to plug into a 30A circuit is 24A (80% of the circuit rating).

Wow how many people have installed 30 amp circuits !!
We have been talking 50 amp for months. People get it
done correctly soon because your Mach is on it's way.?

I doubt any have installed a new 30A. But some have a 30A already in place, from something like a dryer in the garage. (Something foreign to us in cold climates. ;) )

The mobile charger is most likely capable of a wide variety of configuration modes. The problem is that Ford isn't offering connectors for them, yet, other than the two that ship with the car.

In Europe, they offer a wide variety. Here is the page for Switzerland, for example:

Maybe it is just me but if you are going to buy a $50-60,000 car I think it is worth spending $100-300 for a 50 AMP breaker and a new plug.
I sure as heck would NOT screw around with the this MIGHT work on a $40-60,000 car ESPECIALLY when it has to do with electric. Screwing up your car because you are cheap is NOT covered on your warranty.
