I understand that Ford is migrating from BlackBerry QNX to the Android Automotive operating system late this year for the Lightning and MME.

I can't imagine there are many "A" players on the software team working on patches for the old system...

which update is the one that added new controls for the volume knob and displayed different images of the car when picking drive modes?

I "think" I am on 4.2.1 but I see nothing different.

I also was scheduled to get 3.6.2 for the longest time and all the sudden i just see that I am on 4.2.1? I don't know what to make of it.

It was 4.2.1, but when they re-released 4.2.1 to me, I then got 4.2.2, which listed these as updates (although I still had these updates even after the re-released of 4.2.1 to my vehicle. I assume for those that never received 4.2.1, it may not be in there?

So... how has using CarPlay been made "easier"?

It constantly keeps going back to the CarPlay screen... To make calling someone more easy. (So far that's what I have. Every couple drives it will randomly just keep going back to the CarPlay screen every minute until I reset Sync.) I wish Ford collected info on Sync resets... maybe they'd realize all is not well in the ecosystem.

Oh you're right. It was in 4.1.2. Then I got 4.2.1, and then 4.2.2, which looked the same as 4.1.2. haha pics attached

Remember, updates usually clear out all your charging parameters.

Have you updated and restarted your phone? I would also remove it from CarPlay and re-add it. That is definitely a phone bug that keeps telling Sync to go back to CarPlay because you received a notification. So you're either getting a notification and not noticing it or your phone is bugging out.

Restarting and resetting my phone weekly. But it's notification based. Sync just doesn't show it. I'll get a text, it switches and shows it, if I only get 1 text. But if I get a flood of them it appears it gets lost somewhere and just keeps showing the CP screen. Then depending on which screen it's on when I clear the notifications it might show the next one. But usually it's in notification limbo for texts until I either reset Sync or end my drive. My kid and wife have a knack to kill the ability for me to listen to the radio as it stops playing music when it switches to CP. I can switch back, and if a notification comes or should come it goes back to the phone CP start up screen. Started in 4.2.x I think.

Definitely need to unpair and re-pair your phone fully. That isn't the correct functionality at all. When it switches back to CP it should keep playing the radio until you select something on your phone/CP.
