Back in january i bought a 2025 maverick lariat for my wife and I to share. We both loved it. In 3 months of ownership i had no issues.
I ended up getting an opportunity for work that warranted another vehicle so we went with a used 2024 mach e awd premium extended range due to the distance i would be driving for work. I got the 2000$ (cad) rebate for the ford pro charger, installed it professionally on a 60amp breaker, and set it to 48a. And everything was good.
A few days after getting the car, the charger kept faulting overnight. Now this is a major issue. I need this car to go to work. I drive 200km a day and I need it charged when I leave for work in the morning. Luckily my wife could charge at work so we swapped vehicles but I wasn't happy about it.
I thought it might have been a bad installation, but after reading online, I turned off phone as a key and this seemed to fix it for a bit. A few weeks goes by and it starts faulting out again.
I called ford support and they said it was due to the preset charging times. Okay. I deleted that. Now I'm paying more for electricity because I don't want to go out at 9pm in my underwear to plug my car in so I have to leave it charging from 6pm to 5:30am, off peak hours. Annoying but whatever. Then I do a bit of digging and this has been a known issue since last year.
Couple more weeks goes by and things are fine, and then last night I wake up to another charging fault because my sirus radio, which i don't even use, updated overnight and for whatever reason the radio updating warrants the charger faulting out. My wife had to take it yet again to work, costing us more money in extra gas.
So now I've had to turn off phone as a key, turn off my schedule charging times, and now turn off automatic updates. great experience.
Ford get your shit together. This is unacceptable and the main selling feature of an ev should be the home charging experience. This should be #1 priority. I dont care about your stupid premium connectivity crap when i cant even drive my car to work because it didnt charge.
This should be figured out. I seriously don't understand how buying your flagship charger results in such a disconnected and broken experience for so many people without so much as an acknowledgment or roadmap for fixing it.
I can't believe what a difference my 2025 maverick is compared to my mach e. The maverick feels like a fully fledged product and my mach e feels like a half assed prototype left abandoned. Both vehicles from the same company both made around the same time with "relatively" similar software. Entirely shocking.
