Back in january i bought a 2025 maverick lariat for my wife and I to share. We both loved it. In 3 months of ownership i had no issues.

I ended up getting an opportunity for work that warranted another vehicle so we went with a used 2024 mach e awd premium extended range due to the distance i would be driving for work. I got the 2000$ (cad) rebate for the ford pro charger, installed it professionally on a 60amp breaker, and set it to 48a. And everything was good.

A few days after getting the car, the charger kept faulting overnight. Now this is a major issue. I need this car to go to work. I drive 200km a day and I need it charged when I leave for work in the morning. Luckily my wife could charge at work so we swapped vehicles but I wasn't happy about it.

I thought it might have been a bad installation, but after reading online, I turned off phone as a key and this seemed to fix it for a bit. A few weeks goes by and it starts faulting out again.

I called ford support and they said it was due to the preset charging times. Okay. I deleted that. Now I'm paying more for electricity because I don't want to go out at 9pm in my underwear to plug my car in so I have to leave it charging from 6pm to 5:30am, off peak hours. Annoying but whatever. Then I do a bit of digging and this has been a known issue since last year.

Couple more weeks goes by and things are fine, and then last night I wake up to another charging fault because my sirus radio, which i don't even use, updated overnight and for whatever reason the radio updating warrants the charger faulting out. My wife had to take it yet again to work, costing us more money in extra gas.

So now I've had to turn off phone as a key, turn off my schedule charging times, and now turn off automatic updates. great experience.

Ford get your shit together. This is unacceptable and the main selling feature of an ev should be the home charging experience. This should be #1 priority. I dont care about your stupid premium connectivity crap when i cant even drive my car to work because it didnt charge.

This should be figured out. I seriously don't understand how buying your flagship charger results in such a disconnected and broken experience for so many people without so much as an acknowledgment or roadmap for fixing it.

I can't believe what a difference my 2025 maverick is compared to my mach e. The maverick feels like a fully fledged product and my mach e feels like a half assed prototype left abandoned. Both vehicles from the same company both made around the same time with "relatively" similar software. Entirely shocking.

The issue is entirely with the Charge Station Pro, it sounds like. So why does that make the car a “half assed prototype”? Reliability and consumer satisfaction on the car are good. See if you can return the pro charger and get something different? Or ask Ford to replace the Charge Station Pro? Most of us have zero issues or only minor issues charging at home. I use PaaK, scheduled charging windows, departure times, and auto updates. I agree, none of this is “normal”. Have you tried a different charger? (L3 DCFC or a neighbor / friend / buddy with an L2 at home). Keep on Ford support like a fly on a turd. They need to make this right.

The charger isn't faulty.

The software that talks between the car and charger causes it to "fault out" for reasons mentioned above. Its not actually faulting out, its just pausing charging and wont resume until its unplugged and plugged back in. You can Google this, its been a known issue.

This is ford's own 2000 dollar flagship ev charger. This is fords ev charging ecosystem. I shouldn't need to go to a 3rd party brand to have a reasonable experience charging at home. This should be figured out by them already. This should have been the first thing they figured out when designing an ev.

Also there's no point in going after ford support because this has been a known problem (from what I can tell) for over a year now, and ford support said they know about the issue and were the ones that told me to go into the car and turn off scheduled charging. It's a software bug in either the charger/car or both that causes this.

Side note: this isn't the only software issue i have with the car this is just the biggest problem I have with the software. The other things are minor but still make it feel like a half released product. Again, this is coming from a 2025 maverick hybrid lariat that has been absolutely flawless for me. Same company, roughly the same build time. It's just crazy to me how half-finished the mach e feels comparatively.

I don't know when this expecation started that it's okay to release a product with software issues, but in a $60,000 vehicle it's unacceptable.

If you want a quick list off the top of my head of bugs I've come across:
-Android auto not connecting at all, only fix was to restart the car. Turned off Bluetooth, restarted my phone, nothing.
- adaptive cruise/bluecruise wouldn't work at all in my 90 minute drive. Only solution was to restart the car
- entry chime sometimes defaults back to the higher pitch ford "due due due" (minor issue but really ford?)
- plethora of charging issues mentioned above

Issues not software related:
- P button is entirely useless when there's a thousand things I'd rather use it for.
- sticker on rear tailgate shows kick to open when that doesn't exist. It's a sticker, it can't possibly cost them anything to replace that.
-

I have a Grizzl-E and had all kinds of issues, including the charge stopping in the middle of the night like you, that boiled down to two things:

1. The electrician has the charger set to the wrong voltage
2. I was silly and got the smart version and my box was too far away for the wifi to continuously connect.

I haven't had any issues after I aligned the voltage and turned the wifi off on the charger. I can't say those are issues you've had but might be worth checking.

Can you use the charger as a dumb charger and set charging times in the Ford app? In my 40 years of owning a car, I can honesty say that this is the best car I've ever had. Hope you can resolve your issues soon.

I echo this sentiment. 32 months with my MME….dumb L2 Clipper Creek charger with FordPass has been 100% reliable….never one fault. Auto updates work, too.

I went over all that with support, wifi strength was good because my router is right beside the garage, I had a master electrician install the unit, and he even came back to verify with me that the voltage is good and the bolt torque was all correct. I even personally tested the continuity of the wires before connecting to the unit so I'm sure there isn't a damaged wire somewhere. I have a Siemens electrical panel, so its not some junk.

Nothing wrong with the install, it's just bad software on the car/charger or both.

I'm not sure if I can but I shouldn't have to. This is a $60,000 glorified power wheels and a $2000 charger from ford motor company co-built with Siemens. There should be absolutely 0 issues.

The car needs to be checked for trouble codes. Something is broken and it need to be fixed. I’ve been charging my MME for 2 years successfully on a FCSP.

”Absolutely zero issues” is unobtainable. The most reliable auto brand in 2025 is Lexus and it has a problem rate of 140 incidents per 100 vehicles according to J. D. Power.

You clearly identified why to not purchase a Ford, or any other automobile company branded charger. Or, a charger like the DeWalt.

They didn't manufacture it, they didn't co-build or co-design it, they don't support or fix it, and the dealers cannot repair it.

Ford's mobile charger has had issues. GM's mobile charger has had issues...

We got our free Ford Charge Station Pro and quickly sold it for $1,000 cash 2 years ago.

[tongue-in-check]We smartly bought two Juicebox chargers, which performed flawlessly (cough), until the $80+ billion Italian megacompany abandoned the North American market... [end tongue-in-check]. But we also got $1,000 in rebates from our utility company, the first $500 one dependent on the JB charger at the time.

Separately, Ford's HIS system, which works with the Lightning to power a home in an outage, also has major issues (and multiple parties involved).

I had to argue with Grizzl-e a lot. The intiial box they gave me was actually defective, then the new one had the pins wrong for the voltage and then the wifi stupidity. I guess that's what I get for buying Canadian in 2022.

Good luck though. Ford Canada is a bit more painful to deal with than Ford US and you probably have to push them a lot.

As an aside, cat yoga instructor sounds like a killer job. Literally... like the cats are probably plotting against you for making them do yoga. :p

See attached (and below picture) – Ford engineering team is aware of the issue and is testing the solution now. It will require an OTA to charger – so make sure you charger is connected. From the previous timeline I was provided, it shouldn't be far away.

Below is what I do every time I plug in to avoid this situation in the meantime – I hit that button twice every time I plug in and I have not faulted out in several months. It will usually fault out in less than 5 min, if it does.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Ford really needs to get it together. 1760100944925-i

Don't use Ford chargers.

Based on 2 Ford chargers in the past (Lightning and Mach E) - those have been nightmares.

3 continuous years using $400 Emporia hard wired 48A charger shared with 2 EVs in the garage: no issues ever.

I might someday try another EVSE out, but so far the Emporium has been 2 years pretty much flawless.

The Mach-E itself?
I got the feeling that thing just might get handed down via my last will and testament. It's warts have been very minor and far outweighed by its virtues.

I have a number of Ford vehicles in the family fleet. None better put together overall, in my opinion.

So i bought the Ford charger for 2 reasons:
-ability to do v2h
-80a max output.

Although the mach e can't do either of these, my plan was to "future proof" the installation so I wouldnt have to replace the unit going forwards. Seeing that it's made by a reputable company such as Siemens, I didn't think I'd have any issues with it.
