Hi, new member here. I am wanting to here from former and/or current owners of the Ford Edge that now have a Mustang Mach-e. We have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited fully loaded that we bought new in November 2010. It only has 72,000 miles on it and we still love it but we are interested in the 2022 MME. How does it compare? Drivability, safety, comfort, quietness, visibility and any other areas you wish to compare. My wife is rather short and says the Edge's height makes her feel like she can see more while driving.

My mom has your Ford Edge. Same exact thing, year and model. Is yours black? I have driven it a lot and know it well. The ride in the Mach E is stiffer and handling more sporty. Hers has the collision avoidance, adaptive cruise etc. it does not have lane keep. The Mach E does and it’s an improvement to all of those systems. The self parking is also incredible. The best part is fuel economy. My mom Never gets over 20 MPG and the Mach E is equivalent to 68+ MPG. But only goes 200-300 on a charge depending on model. The seats are similar comfort. The interior room is equal if not more. The AC in the Mach E is better. At 93F I can keep it on Auto 72 and I am shivering. The Mach E is in low fan. Visibility is similar. You should take one for a drive and make sure it’s what you want. Any other specifics let me know.

BTW my 82!year old mom loves My Mach e. The parking blew her away.

My other car is a 2019 Edge. A few things that stand out to me:
  • The most noticeable thing to me is the rear hatch / trunk storage space. There is significantly more storage in the Edge, mainly in the depth and height.
  • The Edge suspension soaks up the bumps better. But the Mach-E corners better and accelerates much more quickly.
  • The Mach-E is quieter accelerating and driving at city speeds. After driving the Mach-E I'm very conscious of the the Edge's engine noise and gear shifts driving around town.

Ill be selling my 2018 Platinum White Edge Sport.
It's immaculate and I Love it, but after driving the Mach - e and never having to support the petroleum Nazi's......... I bit the bullet and ordered a Red Mach-e

I traded in my 2018 Ford Edge Sport for my Mach E. I didn't need the cargo room of the Edge anymore nor the 19mpg :)

The ride, I find, is a little softer in the MME. I do miss being a little higher off the ground and I do miss being able to open up the sunroof however since I'm not paying $350/mo in gas anymore, those are minor changes I can live with.

And nothing beats flooring the MME off a red light and leaving everyone in the dust behind you :)

I traded my 2019 Edge ST for my MME.

I would say size wise, they are pretty comparable. I am just as comfortable in my MME as I was the edge. My edge had every option available, so all the new tech the MME has my edge also had so that was nice. I don't regret the trade one bit.

I'll agree with @KennyCaphill about missing the height of my 2018 Edge Sport. Miss being able to see over sedans and not be looking up at the majority of vehicles on the road.

The red light launches without worrying about gas consumption is amazing though!

After having regularly driven a plug-in hybrid in EV mode, I had a Ford Edge as a rental car for a month last year. Everyone else in this thread has nice things to say about the Edge because they are still driving an ICE vehicle sometimes. I'll tell you, when you go from essentially never driving with an engine to going back to an engine, it's a huge shock. I couldn't wait to get rid of that Edge.

The only things the Edge beats the Mach E on are cargo space (definitely bigger in the back and I don't think the front makes up for the difference) and ride height. Everything else goes to the Mach E and drivability is the biggest difference. I hated driving the Edge. It felt big, clunky, and slow. The Mach E still feels big, but it's quick and corners pretty well.

I traded in a 2019 Edge Titanium. I agree with the handling as stated by others. Mainly that the MME is firmer and quicker. The MME is also lower. I like the interior of the MME better too although that may be subjective.

I have been surprised that the Co-pilot 360 is much better with the MME than the Edge, especially when coming up on stopped or slowed traffic. I am excited to see what they do with the BlueCruise software drop.

THANKS everyone for your comparisons and opinions. I suppose now it is up to me to find one to test drive so my wife can see if she will be comfortable. If so, I'll have to talk myself into the price difference...... still have several months before we do anything.

I'm a bit late to this thread. I own both the MME and a 2018 Ford Edge Sport. Most Edge's feel slow but the Edge Sport has the Ford Raptor engine just detuned to 315hp/350 lb torque, which makes it a blast to drive. The Edge Sport also has a sport tuned suspension which is much firmer as compared to the SE, SEL and Titanium versions. That said, the MME is clearly faster and has a lower center of gravity which makes it less top heavy even though it is roughly the same weight as my Edge. The MME is still a compact SUV with reasonable seat height. Other than ground clearance, I don't think a shorter driver would have any trouble adjusting to the MME. I enjoy driving both vehicles.
