It's worth noting though that promotions are usually undertaken by businesses that have lot of competition, in order to try and take business away from the other guys. But for the most part, EA doesn't have hardly any competition for CCS DCFC yet (particularly the interstate routes).You apparently don't understand that companies do promos to get people to use their products and services. That's what the free weekend is.
Frankly, I don't think the free charging weekends ever made much sense for them. It was just lost revenue (build-out capital) with hardly any upside. Travelers taking road trips are gonna use them anyway, out of necessity. And most locals near home will usually just continue charging overnight at home anyway where it's better for the battery, better for the grid, and easier.
