Front Windows UV-Resistant?

Been searching the forum and can’t seem to find whether the front side windows are UV-resistant. Does anyone who has an MME know? There is a thread about the pano roof and the windshield having been tested with a meter, but I can’t find anything about the door windows.

Depends what you mean by UV-resistant? Regular glass blocks UV below about 340 nm, so you're only going to get UVA rays through it. In the Premium models the front side glass is acoustically laminated. Most of the thermoplastics used for laminate glass absorb even more UV, so my guess would be they block >90% of UVA. You could buy some UV beads and test it out.

It is IR resistant. The table in the corner says so (Premium). I believe it is the same as the glass roof.

If you look at some of the pics you will see a purplish tint to the front windshield

I believe he's asking about the front side windows. But it also looks like he has metal roof ordered which means he doesn't have the IR windshield. Same as mine...no purple tint (which I actually prefer)

My FE had the windows tinted before I picked it up, so I never felt any heat through them. I got my GT a week and a half ago, and its getting its windows tinted right now. But for the week I drove it without tint, There was definitely a lot of heat coming through the side windows.

You could buy some UV beads and test it out.

Yes, the windshield and pano roof have “IRR” printed on them. I was asking about the door windows. If they are not I will have to get them IRR tinted, is all. Just trying to figure out what jobs I need to reserve at my tint shop. He’s always busy and I probably won’t get an appointment for 2-3 months.

You'll definitely want the 2 front windows done then.

Steve, you can get UV-resistant window tint film. When/if I get my car, I will get the front windows tinted to match the rest. 300 days of sun here in Colorado and lots of retina issues, so tinting is a "health" measure!

Are you talking about your GTPE order? The windshield will not be IRR since you didn't order the Pano roof.
