So it’s great that we are all talking about this new exciting feature that maybe a small number of people have gotten (those with the Dealer-installed body control update)…. But from what I gather from this thread, nobody has actually confirmed that the frunk open button on the app actually works!

From what I read there’s a button on the app, when pushed gives an error message. Somebody tell me that I’m wrong???
I think it is a work in process and has yet to be implemented.

I have tried this method several times. It only grabs the first latch, never closes completely.
I use a modified version. I lower it to about a foot then place both hands on the hood just to either side of the middle and give it a firm push, but not a slam and not really hard either.

You might also check the adjusters in the Frunk. Those can be dialed down or up a bit to make closing slightly easier.

I’m confused. Even if you had a frunk open button, it doesn’t matter unless the frunk is motorized. Right? I guess it spares me from having to double yank on the opener by my feet. Also, I’d rather have an automatic close button so I don’t damage the frunk when I close it.
There was an after market group that makes a strut for the Model 3/Y that looked pretty simple to replace that automatically lifted the Frunk lid when it was unlatched. So if Ford made a button to open then I bet the after market people will make us an automatic strut. Just a thought.

That method doesn't work on all MME's. There is another thread on this. I took mine to the dealer some time ago; they oiled the latches and told me to keep hands/pressure throughout the close. That's the only way mine, and some others, will close. I stopped using the frunk because you do feel as if you could damage the car using the pressure that's required.
I've found it easier to use just one hand on the front center of the hood and just close it a bit hard/fast. This way the hood is horizonally aligned when hitting the latch, and just closes every time. But I guess not all MME's are the same.

I saw a video when they were being shown to reporters prior to release where the Ford rep show them you slam it like any other car hood you have owned. I lower it quickly and let go about a 1' away with two hands about a 1' apart centered in the middle. Just like I have closed hoods for V8's for years (besides the 1939 with a V8 that had a winged hood ;)). Clicking it on the first latch and pushing on it is not what I have ever done. It works and never gave it a second thought. Hope I am not voiding any warranty with this post. Slam it built ford tough.

This was the result of a Body Control Module update performed by your dealer. (Unrelated to PAAK update)
So, likely won’t be see. By anyone until they take their car in ? (referring to the speed at which OTAs are dep

Has anyone ever tried to activate the in-front trunk button while the front trunk is closed (either by some clever mechanical way like a coat hanger), or by somehow bringing the switch outside the Front Trunk?

I tried with a Fingerbot. Nothing happened, so it seems to be deactivated for now.

I think Ford has acknowledged that is is inactive. Hence the frunk divider.

When I got the car one side was up higher than the other. I lowered them both to the same height, still seems tough. How high are yours?

No clue, but I lowered them both a bit. Two or three turns in. If that makes it worse go 4 turns back the other way. ;)

Yes and as Jon said, that button will not open the front trunk. It is connected to the BCM and needs to be updated to allow it to operate. I tried changing the code for it in Forscan but was unsuccessful. I did not put a lot of time into it as Ford will be giving us an update at some point to make this work anyway.

On a side note, I was able to open the front trunk electronically by applying power to the latch actuator. However I did not add an inside switch to activate the front trunk hood like I did for the rear hatch ( #1 ) because unlike the rear hatch that will only open when the car is in Park and off, the front trunk hood will open anytime you apply power to the actuator which would not be too good when driving the car. You need a power source that is only active when the car is off and no such thing exists. I would have to make up a small circuit to make this work and since I have only used the front trunk once in the 4 months I have had the car, not to interested in pursuing this.

That's probably why. It's a pain to use compared to the rear hatch. Of course the button wouldn't help close it anyway.
