I recently had to have my air compressor replaced. Took it into the dealership and they got it done quickly. When I left the dealership, I noticed that when my car is at highway speeds, there is a high-pitched wine coming from under the hood. Sounds similar to the annoying Bee that flies around a cartoon character’s head. I took it back to the dealership and they stated that it is my windshield wipers making the sound. It clearly is NOT my windshield wipers, because the sound did not start until they removed the frunk casing to replace the air compressor. The dealership is refusing to do anything else to solve this problem. They have offered to replace the windshield wiper cowling (?) for $1000 but I know this is not the issue. I am thinking that the frunk casing was not put back properly and that air is catching somewhere. I drive 35 highway miles to work every day. This sound is driving me insane. To the point that I am considering getting rid of a car I love because I can’t figure out what to do. Suggestions? I am open to anything.

If you open the hood, you can clearly see if the frunk was put back properly. It's a tub, with 3 click on panels. Remove all 3 panels and I don't think it would make a sound. Tub sits in place and bolts in. You can't put all the bolts in without it being in the right place.

Have you looked under the car to see if the fibrous aero covers were replaced appropriately? Maybe one of those missing, or misaligned might cause some airflow noise?
Have you checked out anything else that might be causing the noise?

Hmmmm - had to google that.
Would they have removed those in order to replace front shutters and compressor? I’m trying to backtrack parts they would have touched, since the noise is new. I’ll go check them out though. Thanks!

Or you might ask them how they damaged your wiper mechanism while your hood was open!

Thanks- was thinking maybe a broken clip or seal issue? Thanks for clearing that up…

Are they claiming you somehow damaged that windshield wiper part? They won’t do it under warranty even if it is clearly not the problem?

Yeah, if they are going to do it under warranty, if there is 0% chance that that’s the problem, it is totally wasteful but that might be the hoop you have to jump through to go back to them and tell them that the problem persists - now look at the frunk.

Nope- they are not claiming responsibility. Not sure how to proceed- I just want my quiet car back!
