I thought I read we will be getting Blue Cruise with lane changing in a few months, then navigation based driving, both coming via OTA, no timeline though.
I believe they've said they'd like to bring lane changing to the MME, but I'm not sure if its been confirmed. I haven't heard of navigation based driving, yet. I'd be happy if they just did lane change, made it not hug the right lane and then focused on a Sentry-type mode and improving the center stack, like Netflix, usability, etc. to just match Tesla so people don't give crappy reasons to mention Tesla is better.

Lets call it what it really is. Cruise Control. If it makes you feel better, Advanced Cruise Control. It’s nothing more. And that goes for Tesla also except theirs needs Fire or Crash in the description somewhere.
Advanced Cruise Control + Lane Centering Assist*

I can’t believe someone at a dealer would be this misinformed.
Were they actually misinformed, or were they "misinformed" (salesman-speak for "I lied, but it's not in your sales contract").

Granted, when my dealer's upseller was going through their tack-ons, he was either a world-class actor, or legitimately believed electric cars need oil changes.

I have used tesla's fsd beta and it is prettyyyyy close to actual fsd. I think Tesla is getting really close!
If it's not 100%, it's not full. 99.99999999999% is not full. And they are nowhere near that.

If they were close, they'd accept legal liability for it. They would call themselves Level 3 or higher. They wouldn't be driving into posts and making illegal turns and....

A software engineer should know better.

A bigger question is why OP was in the body shop?

Except it is not. It still makes too many mistakes and can't handle a lot of things. It does a lot of things well and the tech is great, but they are not close to autonomous driving.

This is the correct answer.

The problem is not “can the car make a lot of different maneuvers without hitting anything”, the problem is “can the car make ALL maneuvers without hitting anything WITH >99.999…% accuracy calculated from scientifically vetted, exhaustive system-level validation testing”. That’s what Tesla (Elon, let’s be honest) refuses to understand. and why FSD in its current form is a dead end.

But…stonks. What do I know?

Was talking to the service writer in the Ford body shop today and he mentioned a huge software update later this year and the ability to purchase FSD at a percentage of what Tesla charges.

I'll be honest, I've never heard that this might even be a possibility. Is it, or is it more likely that he is a tad bit confused? He said only the Lightning and the Mach E would have this feature.

Anyway, hopeful that I can pick up my car tomorrow. They need to do the calibration and we are all set
I think others have made it clear, but in case it isn’t: The Mach-E, in its current form, will almost certainly never be capable of greater than Level 2 driver-assist autonomy.

Maaayyyyybeeeeee limited-scope Level 3, but I think that’s even a stretch just from a regulatory perspective.

Yeah I like BlueCruise but it definitely hugs the right side of the lane. Even after trying to “correct” it by holding the wheel a bit to the left it just goes right back to the right side.

Getting the windshield and pano recall done. Stopped by to see if the car was finished. Body shop was done but waiting on the service dept to calibrate the front camera. No accident or other mishap
