Crazy (or maybe not) question: My development has a gate to get in and there is something (sensor of sorts) you put on your car to make it sense your car and then the gate opens. I happen to have a sensor that i have not attached to any car yet so i can just hold it when i get to the gate. It works fine in my other cars when i hold it up but not the mach-e - i move it around and nothing happens. I asked the dealer and they said it made no sense. Just got the car 1/7/22 after many delays. Thoughts? THX!

Try placing it in the “frit,” specifically the dotted black area of the windshield on either side of the rear view mirror. You’ll find a lot of discussions on this topic here generally related to toll passes, but often talk of development gate passes gets woven into those threads. Good luck!

This, it needs to be there or it won't work. You can also see if they offer a headlight version, a lot do now. I put my toll on the windshield and put my community gate opener on my headlight.

Thank you so much - i searched for 'gate' and maybe didn't look hard enough b/c nothing readily came up . I'll try that. b/c of the many discussions, is there a general issue with this type of thing / tolls (here in AZ tolls not an issue luckily) but i'm from NY originally so i know all about that.

Thank you. What I have now is merely a sticker with a bar code and it is maybe 2 inches in length. would not want it to get wet. Guess I'll try the 'frit' thing first. Wonder why it cant be readily read by the sensor. window issue?

The infrared reflective coating on the windshield blocks a lot of things. Radar detectors. Toll passes. GPS receivers. Etc.
The black dotted area by the mirror is the one area that isn’t coated.

I think the windshield has some sort of coating to prevent UV / sunlight / radiation, but the downside of that is it also blocks the signals for ez pass, toll transponders, etc. That's why you need to place it where the black dots are - that part of the windshield is not coated.

I have one of those gate stickers as well, along with a toll transponder. I have the gate sticker in the driver side dotted area and the transponder in the passenger side dotted area. They both work in those spots.

This is interesting. When I am coming up on a EZPass booth, I lay my transponder on the dash and it works fine. I wonder why it works for me but not others?

My neighborhood gate tag is RFID with a bar code. It is attached to the windshield under the dotted area and has always worked. I didn't put it where the dots are because the dots would cover the bar code and I didn't know about the infrared coating issue. All the time I spend in this forum and I missed that one!

Anyway, it all works for me, so maybe this is a Job 1 issue?

My development has the same type of sticker. I put mine as high up on my headlight as it will go. It works very well on front gate but is hit or miss on back gate for some reason.

Thank you - now i need to figure the best way to attach it so it faces the correct way with the sensor b/c the sticky peel off label is on the back of the strip.
