Just to confirm, the speed limit change is in the map database.

65mph here:

The next "section" of highway in the database drops to 55mph. But there is no actual speed limit change here. So the map data is wrong.

I've had kind of a bad time with a section of two parallel highways. There's a section here in Utah where two highways are RIGHT next to each other, one with a speed limit of 70 the other 60. I have to turn off cruise when I drive through there because it can see the speed limit signs for both and constantly switches back and forth.

Not really sure how this can be fixed without some pretty deep AI to differentiate

Yeah, That is definitely an issue I've experienced as well. Usually a service road next to the highway. Always fun when your car is set to 75mph, and it sees the 40mph sign on the service road.

If I was still commuting into the office for work, I'd have turned off speed sign reading already based on the one spot I would hit daily. But I actually like the feature when it works as expected.

It's THE BEST for those stupid speed trap towns along smaller highways

I’ve noticed recently that my CarPlay GPS is all messed up when it’s on the charging pad, it’s really weird, if I move it to the cupholder, everything is good again.

I actually just submitted a change to the database to correct the speed limit in that area I mentioned. Curious to see if that actually works, and how long it takes.

FWIW my GPS went wacky yesterday as well. Had the car off the coast! Working today.

Also, if you are using CarPlay or Android Auto, your phone will use the car's GPS signal for its location since it is typically more precise than your phone that is inside the car.
I have some doubts about this. I switched from the car nav to my Apple Maps and it showed the correct GPS position. At the end of my trip the car was 120 miles away from reality.

Cannot confirm for Apple, but Android definitely does use the car GPS.. when my built in nav started doing this, I switched to Google maps and it was showing the same wrong position

Had this happen twice in the 2.5 months I've had the car. Both Ford Nav and Android Auto were off (by several miles and unable to acquire a steady fix). The voice navigation was so annoying I had to switch off the nav completely. Strangely, even after disconnecting AA, Google Maps on my phone (Galaxy S20+) continued to display the wrong location (as if the car had infected the phone).

The second time we switched to an iPhone (Car Play), without turning off the engine, and that worked. On both occasions, both Ford & AA nav began working fine upon re-starting the engine. Very weird and jarring the first time, even though the operation of the car wasn't affected.

What is this engine you speak of? ?

Jk jk
Same for me. Worked after rebooting the sync system. You can do this without restarting the car by holding the next track and volume down buttons on the steering wheel at the same time

Just to clear up some things here. The map data does have speed limit data in it. So if the car thinks you're on a different road, it definitely can change the speed limit used to the one on the road it thinks its on. It won't do this immediately, It seems to only change to the map data speed limit, if you drive past a change in speed limits on the map, or you change to a different road. It will use the map data for speed limit on a new road so that it can adjust if it doesn't see a sign right away.

Also, if you are using CarPlay or Android Auto, your phone will use the car's GPS signal for its location since it is typically more precise than your phone that is inside the car.
Thats right... I see a lot of posts indicating the car "reads" speed signs... it doesn't. I know that the ad copy explains it this way but it uses a GPS map.

No, it also reads signs. It can use both.

the map data is supposed to be a backup, but it seems to override a sign it read previously on the same road.
