I'm installing a Grizzl-E EV charger with a Splitvolt Splitter Switch plugged into my dryer outlet.

The NEMA 14-50 outlet on the Splitvolt is upside down. And the plug on the Grizzl-E is so short that I would have to mount the Grizzl-E upside down below the Splitvolt.

I would not want the Splitvolt upside down, because it has digital readouts for current, voltage, and power that would be upside down.

I recall seeing a picture of a Grizzl-E mounted upside down, but I can't find it now.

Has anybody mounted a Grizzl-E upside down?

No. But mine is currently wrapped in an old white dish towel to protect it from the sun..

I could replace the Grizzl-E plug with a longer one. Or buy an extension cord. But I'd like to avoid doing either of those things if possible.

Upside down wouldn’t be any problem. I’ve opened mine up to change the dip switches and there is nothing inside that is loose. So upside down won’t matter.

Agreed, as long as it is indoors, then orientation shouldn't matter. Outdoors the strain relief fittings wouldn't like to be on the top of the unit for an extended period of time.

Well, I wound up installing them side-by-side, but I think upside down would have been fine in my garage. Now, if only I had an EV to charge...

So has anyone mounted the Grizzl-E upside down? I have been thinking about this after taking a closer look at my Nema 14-50 Milbank Power box in my garage.

That’s very funny but can anyone think of a good reason why this would not work out?
There is no reason you cannot mount it upside or sideways or however you want as long as you manage the cables properly so that there is no pressure on the strain reliefs - and the GrizzlE strain reliefs are pretty solid.

Thanks for your reply! My plan is to mount it upside down below the Milbank box shown above so the 14-50 plug will have a straight shot to the outlet.

Yeah should be fine as long as it’s not a crazy tension on the cords, gotta make it work somehow!
