A heads up to anyone with a Grizzl-e Smart. You should probably update to the newest firmware if you havent yet.

With the latest version I’m finally pulling around 40a instead of the 32a It was limiting to before.

The update is very easy from the acharger.ca portal.

Hey @skuker I also recently installed the Grizzl-e and updated the firmware, agreed... super easy.

Question for you: have you had any issues preconditioning? I haven't fully tested yet, but I am noticing that the Mach-E runs its charging cycle - then the Grizzl-E seems to go into "suspended" mode after it reaches the preset charging percentage. Then when I manually press Start in the FordPass app to precondition, the vehicle seems to run off the battery and no power flows through the Grizzl-E. I am going to test some more... just curious about your experience.

I haven't really tested it yet now that I think about it it does switch to charging paused as soon as it reaches full. I suspect I will probably have that issue.

It definitely still needs work but at least they are obviously actively working on.

Anyone gotten the Alpha Charger? Seems it is the base Grizzle hardware with the smart functionality but includes a pretty fancy touch panel with some nice functionality and capabilities for minimal cost increase.

Agreed. It almost seems as though it is behaving like a public charger, where the car says “I’m done” and the charger goes into “waiting to unplug mode.”

Just wondering why a signal from the car upon Start/Preconditioning doesn’t register with the charger.

I’ll see what I can figure out and update here. Hoping some other Grizzl-E users also chime in.

I'm emailing tech support now but I've also asked about a refund I'm not really interested in beta testing for them.

@bellyer are you seeing this behavior as well?

Is this issue you've experienced specific to the Smart version? I'm going back and forth between the Classic, Smart or Alpha. Seems Smart and Alpha are the same guts but wondering if Classic isn't the way to go in order to avoid issues like this?

It's with the Smart, I would wait a bit longer before deciding if you can they seem very keen to fix issues as we find them.

Honestly I'm going to give it till august if I still don't like it I may buy an OpenEVSE kit for $250 and install the Grizzl-e Charge cable in it.

This is why I went classic. The car can control the charging. The EVSE doesn’t need to be anything more than an extension cord.

I do appreciate their responsiveness and it sounds like a priority. I will remain optimistic -thanks for posting this.
From multiple sources, they’ve been super responsive to any problems. Another reason I felt confident buying from them.

I do not think that I have noticed that. Although, I have only used my Grizzl-e Smart maybe 5 times in the past few months as it is installed at my vacation home. It seems to be operating normally as a charger, albeit, without the smart capabilities operating yet.

Update 5.40 seems to solve the problem. When charge is complete FordPass just says charge complete not Paused. I remote started the car this morning and it seems charging resumed to maintain the battery.

The logging on acharger.ca seems to be a bit confused hopefully another update fixes that.

I really appreciate their willingness to work with customers to solve bugs quickly.
