Perhaps.
Might just be a coincidence for me and several others that experienced similar issues. As far as I know, we all have been fine since.
It sounds like the update process was the issue with your car, not the modules that were updated. Nothing "mission critical" was updated in 1.7.1. The process did not execute correctly, got hung up in a loop, and depleted your LVB. It is understandable that you would be leery of OTA updates moving forward, but I would bet that it was a one-off problem.

Yes and no. Agree that nothing mission critical was updated but several critical systems were affected. Stop Safely Now and High Voltage Battery Depleted are very serious errors to display on the screen. A fighter pilot would have pulled the ejection handle around that point. :)

Dealer said they had other customers with the same experience so I wasn't the only one. However, both my brother's car and his brother-in-law's car updated fine without any error messages. Hit and miss I guess. I was riding a lucky streak with well over 20k miles without any issues. Car has been rock solid ever since.

Although today I did get a Reverse Braking Assist Not Available message today. Immediately looked at my volt meter and it read 15.1 volts so I am not sure what that was about. Didn't see that message for the remainder of the day though.

Gremlins I guess....

Okay so I'm nearly certain this is what just happened to me, and I mean that as it happened last night. So I went to leave work, got in the car and got every error message I think this thing can throw at me. Then waited about 3 hours for Ford roadside to get someone to me to try jumping the battery. Thankfully after coaching the guy on the car a bit after he tried jumping in and starting it himself and put his ear to the steering wheel to try to listen to try to start. I admit I kinda got a laugh of it when I told him there really isn't anything to hear when it starts. Finally got it jumped and got it home still throwing powertrain and high voltage warnings at me, thankfully my husband came to my rescue and followed me home in case anything happened. This morning I got in and those messages were still there but I needed to get to work so I crossed my fingers it would be alright for the day, made an appointment with the dealership as soon as they open and went about my day. Went to lunch, no codes anymore hmmmm. A few hours later the little checkmark pops up that I have been updated to 2.1.0. I'm going to keep my appointment with the dealership so they can make sure my car is okay and to check for anything to update or shine up. Any advice to prevent this in the future?

I got 2.1.0 a couple of days ago. Not early access, but I always seem to get them soon after they are out. As usual the release notes are useless, and I haven't noticed any change, good or bad, so I have no clue what it was supposed to do.

2.1.0 arrived for me over the past day or so. The car was plugged in last night so my guess was it was done last night.

How do you find the most recent update number? Mine just says "you're up to date".
I have only had the MME for 2 weeks, so not totally familiar with all the fine points.

My car received 2.1.0 couple days ago. This is about a month after my stuck 1.7.1 resolved itself OTA, which was stuck for about 2mos. In FP is is showing 2.1.0 update successful under vehicle alert, but on the car's screen it hasn't given me the update success check mark yet, although it says it's up to date on 2.1.0.

I decided to turn off automatic updates. That way I would get a notification in the car or via the FordPass app when an update is ready. I can then choose to download it while I am driving. That way my low voltage battery won't be drained in the process (because the car is running so the charging system is active). Then while you are parked at work the package should install fairly quick.

I experienced same issue as you (but with the 1.7.1 update). The 2.1.0 update went so much better. I have no idea if turning off automatic updates made any difference but I will stick with it as long as my luck holds.

I have it set for automatic updates, so I don’t get any alerts about pending updates. When I click on update details, it just says “your vehicle is up to date”.

Folks with access to the Ford PTS system (dealers, technicians etc) can look up the VIN and browse to a diagnostics tab that shows the update history with quite a bit of detail.

I guess I have to turn off automatic updates and wait for the next update to see which one I have. I don't understand why you can't find the currently installed update listed anywhere.
