That’s just crazy. Especially in SoCal where I live. Asked the service rep if he knew and he didn’t so he asked the mechanic, he didn’t either.

Any hacks?

all the best,

Just because eheat is enabled doesn’t mean it’s actually making heat. Just leave the car in AUTO and let it do what it needs to do.
I could, but then the system would either run the AC or heat and I’d rather not run either unless the ambient temperature is too hot or too cold.

You can adjust the temperature up/down as necessary to get the air flow you want. It'll kick things in as necessary. If you want the same level of HVAC control you had in your previous traditional ICE powered cars, give up now. You aren't getting it.

You're going to be very frustrated if you want to manually control those on the Mach-E. It will be best for your blood pressure to just set the HVAC to AUTO and not worry about whether the heat or A/C is running. The car will decide what to run automatically and choose the most efficient strategy, which might not make sense to an outside observer, especially with the complicated heat pump. Just because heat or A/C is being used doesn't mean it is using a lot of energy, both are variable so it might only be using a tiny amount of heat or A/C at a given time.

"Set it and forget it" is the play here.

What I really wish the system had was a range setting instead of one value.

The fact is that no system can maintain an exact temperature and any given person has a different temperature range they are comfortable with there really should be two values to establish a temperature range especially when you are talking about a system that is both going to heat and cool.

At this time of year around here it can get cool in the night and still be harm during the day with the sun beaming in.

What I find is if I leave it on automatic I feel cool in the night when I have set to what feels good in the day time. If it is in automatic I end up having changing the temperature up and down during the day.

What I end up doing mostly is just turn it off.

Then just turn off the e-heat button, leave the ac off and just run the fan which runs on 12V.

This. Now that I know, I will simply turn it off.

The main point to remember, as Mach-Lee pointed out, is that both systems are variable.

It's not like the old Cycling Clutch Orifice Tube systems Ford used for 40 years- those ran more or less at full output no matter what. These run more like a mini-split. There are large efficiency gains running at lower speeds with heat exchangers sized for higher loads.
