Now my question is, does AC do anything when e-heat is on? Question of limiting unnecessary current draw. I mean just like a home AC unit when it gets too cold outside and since there is no heat generated by any engine what does AC do at this point if E-heat is on?

Yes, A/C is often used to remove humidity.

Understood but since we are using an electrical heater rather than scavenging air from the engine bay, doesn't this dry up the air already? Like using forced air heating rather than radiant.

Maybe, but I’m sure it could use some help. Cars never directly blow air in from the engine bay. They use hot coolant and transfer that heat to a heater core that air blows through. The source air either comes from outside or is recirculated from within the cabin.

Did you accidentally hit the max defrost button?

puddle is condensation from ac and is normal
I don't believe so - the hot air was coming out of all of the vents, not just the top of the dash vents. There's been a couple of others reporting the same thing. Also, I can't quite remember, but I believe it happened on its own without any touches of the display.

Going back to that concept of the eheat not needed and the battery heat can do the job, I tried that for a week and never got any heat!
You should probably read the battery pack temperature, motor, inverter and coolant temperatures with obd2 dongle, you will see if cooling loop had warmed up to give any heat to the cabin.

I use Car Scanner ElmObd2 app to read these sensors. Engine coolant temperature (B) seems to show the cooling liquid in motor/inverter loop, while the HV battery coolant inlet temp is more temperated (probably the battery coolant loop?).

This app clearly shows the increased power draw in kW when the E-heat or AC is on - best to check when car is stationary in D or P.

Aircon is very stingy with energy compared to PTC heating. It is way easier to cool down the cabin than to heat it up.

Yes. The chiller is a heat exchanger. They are correct.
The battery and TFE heater are on separate cooling loops that can be connected or shared. They are isolated loops that can be combined if the car chooses. It does that via a diverter valve shown here:

The Munro boys keep calling it a PTC heater......heck, I did too. But now that I see it in that video, it doesn't look like PTC at all to me. The PTC heater in my Focus was about the size of a shoebox. MUCH larger than that what the Mach-E has. Judging by the size of that thing....it has to be a Thick Film Element type. There is no way a PTC of that size would come close to warming the battery and cabin. At least, not any PTC that I've seen anyway.... ?

I've been searching the forums (probably poorly) looking for more info on this system. Any way to get a legend to this image? Which item is the TFE heater? Thanks!
