My biggest beef with the EA stations (which I otherwise find fairly reliable) is their lack of utility for an after-hours charging session. I was on the road from Cleveland back to SE Michigan last week, and I stopped at an EA station at 9:15 pm for a 30-minute charge. The station worked ok, but I was hungry and needed to use the bathroom. The adjacent grocery store had just closed and the closest fast food chain (Arby's) was drive-through only, which meant I couldn't access their bathroom.

I'd really like to see what is happening in Norway; inclusion of charging stations at gas stations and travel plazas. That way you have a relatively safe and reliable stop where you know you can find a bathroom. I'm honestly no fan of charging at the outside edge of a Walmart or Sam's Club; this is a really unappealing way to charge.

Fortunately, EA is adding charging stations at the Ohio Turnpike travel plazas; that is a great start and fantastic diversion from the Walmart parking lot model.

When I first got my M3P I glanced in the "Your Neighborhood" app and there was a whole give and take about Model S drivers dreading the arrival of the unwashed M3 hordes which were about to consume all known chargers -- said while holding their noses, of course. If anyone tries hard enough... anyway Tesla responded (or not) by putting in 8 new 250KW chargers. Me?, I charge at home. Lest I be seen as unwashed.

Some cities in California are starting to ban new permits for Gas stations (gives them the false illusion of going green). I’ve always thought a more common sense approach would have been to require an equal charging stations to gas pump ratio when doing any upgrades. Since gas stations make their money from the convenience store, they would be just as happy. Seems like a much easier way of building the infrastructure as well as providing a simple way of transitioning over in the future.

All my friends in California tell me what a sheethole it has become. Elon was smart to leave.
Exactly. It's such a sheet hole they won't leave

Seems like someone told someone that Teslas had their own Supercharging Stations and didn't belong in an EA station taking up a spot..... hmmmm...

I'm originally from Vermont, one of the most beautiful states. Leave California? I do not think so. It's a lot cleaner than when I first got here -- especially the air. Musk move his HQ because of taxes.

This is far more common than most people think it is, at least in California.
Don't be so parochial. ;) That behavior is common everywhere, California has no lock on it. I saw exactly this in Northern Idaho repeatedly when visiting family. Saw it in Denver, Memphis, New York, I saw it in the Bay Area while visiting friends, Honolulu, and I see it every day here. It's human nature.

I found that the thing I missed most about "gas stations" when using EA chargers was not restrooms or food, as most EA chargers are near such, but soapy water and squeegees to clean the bugs off the windshield. I ended up buying a squeegee, some paper towels and a bottle of windshield washing fluid and sticking them in the Frunk. Then I realized EA stops also do not include trash cans... I was happy to find EA charging stations included at some truck stops along the interstate and not at Wal Mart.

I read that Shell is considering adding charging to their fuel stations around the country. I hope they do.

Shell also owns Greenlots. They would have something resembling available expertise to accomplish this. So far though, in my limited experience out here (they're the only DCFC stations here), I've been entirely unimpressed with Greenlots and its Customer Service.

The number of times I've seen someone say "That must be in California", or "That doesn't happen here" on this forum makes me insert comments like "At least in California" so that I can cover myself when some smartass says "Well we don't have that issue here", thus eliminating the argument. Trust me, I don't want to claim I live here!

It's human nature.
Sure, it’s nothing new. The human condition has never been a utopia where everyone is unfailingly kind, thoughtful, and respectful. But many studies have shown that rudeness and disrespect are increasing because of low self-esteem and learned behavior, both of which can be curved and reversed. I personally won't submit to defeat of rudeness and disrespect by claiming it's human nature.

I lived in California for 35 years after the Navy moved me there. I semi-retired to Arizona 12 years ago because of wanting to live where it is warmer year-round. There are many things about living in California that I desperately miss. It is the best place I have ever lived. My recent trip to the Bay Area to visit my son and his family reminded me of that.

I do not miss the traffic nor the crowds, however. :)

It's a beautiful state and one of the few places where you can drive a hour to get to the beach, an hour the other direction to get to the snow, or a couple hours south to get to the warm desert. It's unique and I've been here from birth until this day.

But as evident by the comments here where people are amazed by the fact that Walmart won't remove the homeless or people are excessively rude, those too are "California" things (and I'm sure elsewhere - CYA) that aren't so beautiful. A lot of people think that this "should be" easily resolved with law enforcement or the property owner and understandably they can't wrap their head around why it's not.

Of course it can be resolved by law enforcement and property owners….. there’s a reason California has a homeless crisis with a lot of the homeless being from other States;)
