How often?

Probably on most of my road trips...

I *LOVE* driving the Mach-e on road trips. I go from NW WA to UT a couple of times a year. I took the MME from WA to Moab, UT last year and had some minor EA issues. Made me wish the Tesla network was available then.

Tesla chargers seemed to be numerous and had more chargers in locations that aren't tied to an interstate, allowing travel on major secondary roads, which to me is a little more fun. Tesla is the only DCFC in Moab, with the closest EA in Green River, UT off of I-70 (over 50 miles away). Tesla also has a supercharger in Green River, allowing for more flexibility and "backup" locations. The Green River EA station only had 1 out of 4 working when I stopped there, with a whole bunch of nothing for many miles around.

I also have two kids in travel sports, so I have lots of trips all over WA playing chauffeur. I also do some work travel around WA 2 or 3 times a year, and am looking forward to having the extra options and availability of DCFC as most of the EA stations I need to stop at are unreliable or very crowded. Tesla chargers always seem to be in more convenient locations when I'm driving around and generally have open spots available.

I plan on using it a lot when road tripping and it is a fun road tripper, comfortable and planning to stop every couple of hours for a few minutes does make for a much more pleasant trip.

It's going to be a necessity when I drive to Vegas. The charging infrastructure there is woefully inadequate. So having an adapter will definitely make life much easier. Also when I drive to SD or Phoenix it will ease the anxiety of having to wait at certain EA stations that don't have enough capacity.

I DCFC exclusively. But Tesla SC would be of limited use to me. None of their chargers in the city are open to us. Zero. It’ll be for use on road trips and as a last resort due to the parking situation.

I'm going on a trip from Detroit to Norfolk in 2 weeks. I'll use Tesla exclusively. We do this trip a couple times a year.

Green river UT ?

Are you sure ?

I always wanted to fly fish the Green but the scary thought of insufficient chargers was putting me off.

Specifically if I wanted to fish Dutch John at the Green River in UT, is there a Tesla SC nearby ??

Green River (the town) UT is on 1-70 just west of the Route 191 interchange. East-Central UT.

I'm positive.

Flaming Gorge is in NE UT near the WY border. Haven't searched for any chargers near there, but I have read on the forum that I-80 through WY is a charging desert... as well as an actual high altitude desert ...

Very different places.

I only DCFC 8-10 times a year.

In the 16-20 DCFC sessions over the past two years I have experienced a few hiccups but nothing that prevented me from charging.

I like the idea of having the adapter for flexibility but I am not sure how often it will actually be used.

When I first got the car I bought a level 2 adapter so I could charge at Tesla destination chargers. I have used that adapter twice. Both times at the same hotel in Charleston SC. The hotel I am staying at in May has both Tesla Destination and J1772 plugs so I might get a chance to use the level 2 adapter.

I have a trip in early May that will be my first opportunity to use the NACS adapter. My wife is against using the adapter once I explained having to take up two spots. She doesn't want the potential conflict. For this trip we will be staying in the middle of nowhere Tennessee that oddly has a couple ChargePoint DCFC stations but no Tesla Supercharger stations but there will be our choice of DCFC brands along the route.
I live in SoCal (LA) and I will prob use the Tesla adapter when on road trips. In town it’s cheaper to use EVgo and EA since I drive Lyft part time and have a discount on both and EVCS because I am Platinum level.

Someone on here posted that Tesla charges almost double when using their chargers.

So Calif here and Tesla's non member rate is about what I'd pay at non member EVGo rates - depending on the time of day.

Becoming a Tesla member, drops the price to below EVGo & EA membership.

I am now exclusively using Tesla Superchargers in town as well as road trips as they are located in much more preferable areas, outnumber EA/EVGo, way more charge towers, and no waiting.

I think it depends on the food options and amenities and the EA vs Tesla locations. The important thing to me is that, generally, there are more stalls at a Tesla location than at an EA location. Right now, I'm planning a trip from Atlanta to Cooperstown, NY, in June, going through Annapolis to see a friend. At many of the potential charging stops, there are only 4 stalls at EA vs 8-20 at Tesla. When they're both in the same location I'll probably use Tesla for their reliability and more stalls available.

I might try it once, but I still have credits left from when I bought the vehicle. My MME is my daily driver/fun ride I keep charged in my garage, occasionally DCFC on a weekend when I go more than a couple hundred miles. I bought another vehicle I use for long road trips (ICE/hybrid), so probably won't have the need.

I drove my last car 10 years only charging at home. We are retired now so maybe some more road trips are in our future. I have already DCFC 6 times since I bought the GT and 2 of those were with the adapter. Of those 3 were practice/famiarization.

That said we are doing a 2600 mile road trip in June and plan on sticking to TSc if we can. After that we may use it a few times per year when we go to Portland.
