Will I get a warning when my LV battery needs replacement? I have had my Mach e for about 30 month and don’t want to be stranded with a dead battery.

Same is true for an ICE car. Eventually the 12V will be dead and you’ll need a jump. I would familiarize yourself with the procedure to pop the frunk through the bumper access panel. And then learn how to remove the panels to get access to the 12V. Or even drill the access holes to get at the 12v connection points without removing panels. It will make a jump start that much easier.

My 12v battery just died on me with no notice or warnings. Thankfully I was driving and had just turned off the car when it happened so I hadn’t closed the driver door and it was easy to pop the frunk.

I can’t say if my battery died just on its own, as I had a software update install the night before so perhaps it could have been related to that.

I had been considering replacing the battery anyhow just because of its age (three years) and also that I’ve never had a 12v battery last longer than that here in Florida. Now I wish I had done that anyhow.

Maybe you will get a low 12v warning, but you sure won't get a "it needs replacement warning". People replace 12v batteries all the time for no good reason. "It died" is usually BS, because the true way to know that is to charge it up and then load test it. People just go buy a new one for no reason.

Once I get to 3 years, I plan on doing an annual load test of the battery, which most auto parts stores perform. I will make sure they don't "test the charging system", just load test the battery.

Can you safely remove the battery and take it to be tested just in case it needs to be replaced or will this effect the onboard systems if it is removed for say two hours?

Disconnecting is a non-issue. That said, there is ZERO reason to remove it.

I was inquiring since I have an Interstate distributor by me, so I was wondering if it does show up as borderline to be replaced I could then just exchange it and be done, rather then go home remove, drive back, swap out and drive home and replace since I bought the car in May 2021

The battery has a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty...

We have asked Ford to send a notification when the 12V battery is severely degraded, but they haven’t implemented a replacement warning yet.

If it's a ford AGM, it could use replacing. Lots of issues with motorcraft AGMs

The batteries themselves are very good quality. I usually get 6+ years out of my Motorcraft 12V batteries. It’s the management of them that’s the problem.

So, I just drove down to 45% yesterday, charged to 100% last night, preconditioned this morning and drove for two hours. By 12v SoC says only 93%. (It was 89% yesterday.)

I have two months of warranty left—is my 12v shot? What does it take to get it to 100%

When my battery was about to die. I noticed the car going into battery save mode a lot. I ignored thought it was normal, seeing that I had approx 30 miles range , Then I was getting multiple faults. Camera, pre collision, blind spot. I didn’t have much time once faults were happening.

It won't get to 100%, unless it's actively charging or being driven. If you put it on a Battery Tender, it can take a week or more to get near 100%.

Your battery is fine. You‘re unlikely to ever see 100%.
