Saw a few posts of people getting failures after the recall software update. I’m one of those lucky people. Just curious how many had similar situations.
Mine failed next day after the software update.

Hoping we get enough responses to get accurate, current info.
I’m also wondering what is causing the recall updated cars to fail. Are we all actually driving cars with near meltdowns that only the software can detect?
Alot more info is needed about the software detecting meltdown temps we already have going on?

Mine happened in May with 6,000 miles. I got one of the updated HVBJBs and am coming up on 12,000 miles now with no issues (and same driving habits). I have not had the recall done yet but do have auto updates on So hopefully it will be coming soon.

Engineers either did some atmospheric parameterization (pulling numbers out of the air) at a best guess of tolerances for safety and they were overly conservative. Or they know exactly how much power the contactor can dissipate before failing and we are all just that close.

Based on what I have read, I am lead to believe, the software can detect high temps at the contactors. If so, it sure would be nice to see a temp history for the contactors. Has anybody "hacked" into the system data and been able to monitor contactor temps? It would be useful to see what the temp metrics are during vehicle operation.

Just got mine back. 9 business days from drop off to completion. 5 days for troubleshooting and parts; 4 days for the repairs.

It can’t read the temperature directly. It infers the temperature based on load and voltage drop. There are no sensors to monitor the temperature of the contactors. 😊🐩

Difficult to place much value in this... sampling bias at maximum levels.
True, but even if it was 5%, that's pretty bad. And from the sound of things, its not that there was a bad batch of HVBJB, but rather all of them were inadequate for the heat generated. So given enough time they all will fail. The condition for failure is not some exotic high-speed track session but rather pretty mundane highway cruising/passing.

Failure at just over 8k, February. Almost a month to get completed repair. New B variant of HVJB. If anything, my driving habits have gotten more intense. Recall software is applied. I’m just not going to worry about this again. Hopefully won’t have a serious issue with this car until 200k+ miles.
