How's the frunk space compared to the MME?

It came quite handy on our Christmas drive when I discovered it fit a whole carry-on suitcase.
The frunk is quite a bit smaller than the MME’s. I’ll have to try a carry-on suitcase to see if it would fit. There’s a lot more rear cargo space though, so I don’t think the smaller frunk will really matter.

It is TSO (generally)! Now I have to see how many MME accessories I have to sell. I guess I won't be able to do much with the Mongoose cable and FDRS license anymore.
Sorry to hear you go. In other news if i really wanted to shoot myself in the foot.. I know where to get a cable (but by the time this is posted it's prob gone, thankfully)

Sorry to see you go (although not really, since you said you'll stick around the forums). I'm also in the category of people looking seriously at the EV9 to replace my Pacifica Hybrid. Really wish Kia had electrified the Carnival instead of the Telluride, though - I think the world is crazy for not putting those rear minivan-styled sliding doors on practically everything. We have another year with our Pacifica and then it's either going to be the EV9 or the VW ID.Buzz. The ID.Buzz should be a proper electric minivan, but I greatly prefer how Kia does their EVs over VW...

I'm not ready for a full on review yet, but here's a quick list of pros and cons when compared to the MME. This is just off the top of my head, and in no particular order:
I appreciate this list of yours. A good number of your listed cons are things that are actually pluses to me (1PD and some climate setting features resetting with car power down). The big downside that I didn't realize is that app access isn't free after a few years. I guess that's actually somewhat standard in the industry (Chrysler cut access after about one year, and Nissan cut back some app features after a year or two as well). Usually I let it lapse and that's that, no more app, but it sounds like Kia's might actually be worthwhile.

Does anyone know if the Fordpass app will require a subscription to keep it going, at some point? I use it for the remote climate start and sometimes to open the frunk but that's about it - probably wouldn't pay to keep those features going.

I'll look forward to reading your thoughts on the EV9 when you have the time and inclination to write something longer on it.

Congrats, I love the EV-9 and was watching it since its auto show debut as a serious contender to replace our family truckster, but I wasn't ready to leap to being a 2-EV household. We bought a Mazda CX-90 instead, but eventually we'll make the leap.

Ford doesn't currently have any plans to charge for FordPass. Interestingly, Hyundai has followed their lead and made their Bluelink app free. I'm surprised Kia hasn't yet considering their close ties to Hyundai.

Congrats on your new ride!

- Have you had any 12V/ICCU issues with the EV9?
- How is your local Kia dealership for service issues?
- I heard the EV9 has a very mediocre audio system...is this correct?
- How is real world range and is it too low for trips?

- No 12V/ICCU issues. The HVB charges the LVB much more frequently than the MME does. I really like that there's a light that shows you when that's happening.
- I haven't brought it in for service yet, but my local Ford dealership wasn't great. I'm not expecting much.
- The Meridian audio system sounds fine to me. I'd say it's comparable to the B&O system in the MME.
- The range has been great so far. I've been averaging 3.2 miles per kWh around town and 2.8 miles per kWh on a 70mph road trip. The usable battery is 99.8 kWh, so the range is similar to the the Extended Range MME. I never took the MME on road trips, but the increased range and fast charging of the EV9 makes it much more doable than my Standard Range MME was. I'll be interested to see how much of a hit the range takes in the winter. My MME was down 40% in the cold, but the EV9 has a heat pump so it may be a bit better.

Thank you for your observations. I might have to consider the EV9.

Do you remember your efficiency numbers on the Mach-E? It seems like depending on the leg of my commute, my Mach-E reports somewhere between 3.5-3.8 miles per kWh. I wouldn't be surprised if the EV9 were a bit less efficient; I mostly wonder just how much less efficient it is.

The efficiency numbers on my MME were about the same as what I’m getting with the EV9 on average. But I’m sure the EV9 is less efficient since it’s heavier and boxier. The rated MPGe is lower than the MME, but not by as much as I would have thought.

Frunk has enough room to carry a portable charging cable. That's about all.

We traded in our (my wife's) 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV SX for an EV9 GT-Line last week. $17k off MSRP before the lease price was calculated, and we got a lot for the Sorento. I also traded in my 2024 Model 3 LR AWD for the '24 Mach-e GT (w/Performance) - also a phenomenal lease deal. So we have both. The EV9 is outstanding in almost every way. I love the Mach-e too though - nowhere near as luxurious, but definitely better performance across the board.

I really like the EV9 and would probably be my next choice if I didn't have a mach e. I must admit, I also like the vw buzz, but it's way overpriced and has abysmal range.
