I was considering an ID4 but dealers were trying crazy mark ups. I'm glad I got a Mach-e

Takes like this put it into perspective.
All of these major automakers are relatively new to the kind of software experience that Tesla, or even Google and Apple, provide. It's not easy going. But at least Ford has now proven to be proactive about giving us updates and fixing things. I'm sorry to hear that VW owners are stuck in the dark. That would be endlessly frustrating.

I did test drive an ID.4 also -- the experience was a bit lackluster and uninspired. And the screen responsiveness left a lot to be desired.

Dang I had no idea VW was struggling that much with the OTAs. Ford took a while to get their shit together but they seem to be rolling them out at a pretty good rate these days.

we've got an ID4 on order as our second EV. ? hopefully things are better with the newer software (that you get at purchase).

it's kinda sad that i need to be well versed on how to set up both EVs for a flatbed tow.

I bet every BEV is going to confuse the tow truck guys until they get used to them. The battery frame probably has lots of tempting places to attach the hook for most BEVs. And jacking up the car? I am sure no BEV battery rail will like it if you try to jack it up there.

I liked the ID.4 when I was looking. The turn radius was so much fun.

In the end, more than anything, I hated all the capacitive buttons. I know people say you get used to them. Maybe I would. But I didn’t want to buy a car I may hate to use every time I get in it for the next X years. That fear helped make my decision easy.

That said I had heard the ID.4 was having a rough time but ouch. Poor buyers. I know this stuff is hard but that’s really unfortunate. I hope it gets better for them like the Mach E stuff is getting better for us.

I put down a $500 deposit when the id.4 was being introduced to the US market. But then I heard that OTA updates will be coming out later in the year and maybe it wasn't fully baked, so I took my deposit back. To VWs credit, getting back the deposit was pretty easy.
