Because the haven’t hit any software related dates perhaps.
Honestly the IPC is the most refined thing about the MME UI, it feels like it was designed by a totally different team than Sync
What makes you think Ford is actually doing the interface update in-house?

I think the Android Automotive OS was originally supposed to launch with tte 2023 model year. Not sure if that’s still the case. IIRC the infotainment system for earlier models is a software change.

I’ve been known to be wrong though.
I believe they said that they would begin using Android Automotive in 2023. That doesn’t mean that every (or any) model in Ford’s lineup is going to get it for the 2023 model year, even if things are on track.
I haven’t heard of a walk back or delay at all but given the ongoing supply chain constraints I’d not be surprised if there was a delay. That’s presuming the switch to the Android Automotive OS requires differing hardware.
The language doesn't say "model year 2023". Since model years start early, if they BEGIN putting it in vehicles in calendar 2023 then it is likely for the 2024 model year - unless they release a "2023 1/2 Mach-E", which seems highly unlikely.

And just because they begin in 2023 doesn't mean that all models will start getting it, even for the 2024 model year. My guess is that it will get phased in as Sync 5 as different models hit their refresh cycles. Just like how several Ford models are still being sold with Sync 3 because they haven't been refreshed since Sync 4 was released.

They are working on a re design for sync. I can confirm that. I can also tell you all that if you saw the original mock ups you would be pulling your hair out. It's looking better as of right now and they have taken a lot into consideration from comments throughout this forum. Things such as using the volume knob for climate adjustment, fan and heated seats will be integrated, for example.

It'll be a software update no hardware will be involved.
Will they add a soft always present button to open the back hatc?

Ford has said a total redesign of the Infotainment UI is coming later this year. Has anyone heard whether this is in the form of a SW update or a totally new system for 2023 only?
There will be a new interface that current sync4 hardware will get. Not sure on any timeline on this though. I wouldn't expect to see it until next year.

There is also the Android Automotive changeover that is happening in the next few years. I suspect they will try to make the two interfaces look as similar as possible.

It will be interesting to see how people react to an overhaul of the UI. It was about a decade ago when all Apple did was change the color of the icons to pastel and the Apple fanbois were in an uproar for over a year.

I really just hope for main screen buttons of trunk, frunk, and camera. I think the Mach E is the only vehicle in Ford's lineup without a dedicated camera button when properly equipped

I'm gonna say this nicely and simply as my wife says I am too grumpy and willing to fight with people on the internet ...

STOP LISTENING TO FORD PEOPLE. THEY WILL SAY ANYTHING TO DRUM UP EXCITEMENT AND KEEP CARS MOVING OFF THE LOT. WE GET WHAT WE GET. WE HAVE WHAT WE HAVE. NO MORE NO LESS.

I'm gonna stop there instead of posting links to a bunch of things ford has said about the Mach-E that has never come to fruition and may never actually happen.

There will be people that don't like it. But, I think the majority will like it. It looks pretty slick so far.

No matter how amazing it could be, there will always be haters.

That's true of any "feature" of anything. It always amazes me when a vehicle adds a feature the significant split on almost any of them. "Love it", "can't live without it" and then you get "OMG, can't believe they ruined it".

When the F-150 started getting features like Start/Stop, people bought adapters to prevent it. And tons of "I don't want them "watching me"". Some of those same people are buying the F-150L, and have no comprehension of how much "watching me" is going on...

Maybe they will provide an option to remove the Alexa ring of death.
