Infotainment Redesign Coming -- via updated software or hardware?

The whole interface sucks ass. Too many layers to try to deal with when driving. The fan speed is annoying, and the stupid car will not charge when we want it to, which could leave us without charge in the morning. 9 software updates at the dealer and it still sucks ass. The rest of the car is great.

So just double checked to make sure I was smoking something, but mine still turns off when the passenger door opens. I'm now on 2.8.3...

Yeah I actually misread the post, that’s how it works now

And there is a way to instantly get to your profile if the car selects the wrong one: press the corresponding button on the door. If your profile uses button 1, press it and the car will switch to your profile. No need to touch the big sync screen at all. Works great.

Today I learned… thanks for sharing. Since it’s my wife’s car, it prefers her phone over mine when we’re together. The buttons tip is super helpful.
Coming from a Model 3, I am used to the screen being ready to use immediately (most of the time) to switch profiles if needed.

I wouldn't count on many changes for FP. That's a lot trickier because FP is used for the whole fleet of vehicles, not just the MME.

That, in a nutshell, is the heart of the problems with FordPass as it currently exists. I have said repeatedly that they need a separate app for ICE and one for EV’s. The things we need to be able to do are too different.

Great idea. They already thought of that. MyFordMobile is used for many of the older vehicles. Why they abandoned it for FordPass for the Mach-E, I have no idea.

Yeah, we have the same issue with the phone. Aways have to fight through getting them swapped when I drive for a family trip. The door buttons work great for switching profiles through. Ford has used those for years so we are just in that habit. I don't think we have ever used the screen to change profiles.

That said, it picks the right profile 99% of the time. It just connects the wrong phone. I wish the phones were linked to the profile selection, but it always connects to the primary phone first.

If you go back a few posts there is a discussion about the hatch button. It is a mod. The GT models get the traction button.

I don't think we'll see the redesign until next year. One thing I've learned with Ford timelines is that they are hardly ever correct and they can flip flop and scrap a plan that they've been working on for a long time.

Look at the Pro FordPass app, it looks way better!

I’d like this vs the current version. Not sure why they don’t give us more frequent incremental updates but I suspect the entire team is focused on Android Automotive right now.
