-I need to ask what lifting device did you use to access the bottom of the vehicle?
-No photos of "being able to reach along the sides of the battery pack?
Hey William, looks like I forgot to reply to your questions.

I have a BendPak MD-6XP Mid-Rise frame lift in my garage. It raises the car 4' making it easy to service and at my age, convenient to clean/detail the lower parts of the body and wheels/tires. I've had it for 6 years servicing my cars, friends cars, including replacing springs/sway bars and doing other work on quite a few member's cars here. The center part of the car underneath is not very accessible with the style lift but I knew that going in. I only care about the front and rear access. It was still not a problem insulating the pack, just was a little tight in a few areas. This lift was the best addition to the garage I've ever made.

Not really able to take photos of the open sides and top of the HVB pack. You can't see down in there but you can reach in with your hand. Viewing from the front of the pack looking back, the the passenger side has two large cooling/heating hoses from the front all the way down to the back of the pack. It would not be easy or practical to "block that frontal area" to prevent air from flowing in and around the sides and top.

The lift sits 4.75" high when collapsed but I had 2" high ramps made for that area because the GT500 has a ground clearance of only 4".

Thanks for the reply. Without a lift in my home and access to see how that frontal part of the battery pack could be blocked, there is no need to purchase that skid plate for this proposed project.

You would not need a lift to access the that frontal area of the battery pack but you would need to raise the car up a decent amount to get your entire body under there to work on it. If this insulation project would have worked out better, I was going to purchase the Ford skid plate also but no need to now.

Some UHaul dealer locations have indoor garages in which a ramp exists lifting one end of the vehicle. Such a simple design would work and allow one to further explore that frontal opening for potential covering/blockage.
