I also found that sometimes both ford Nav and Apple car play Nav run at the same time. They didn’t disconnect when the other started. I will have to check if that has resolved
I know some won’t like this but hear me out. I would prefer to have both separate, and to have the option to run both at the same time. For example if I’m navigating to a DCFC as part of my trip, I want pre conditioning to start but I don’t want to use the Ford navigation interface.

I agree with you which is why I tried this, but each time it would cancel the other and I had to renter the destination in iOS 16.

now both run at the same time, maybe that’s the way ford wants it now. But it wasn’t that way before I changed to IOS 17.

what I don’t know is which one is showing in the instrument cluster. HMM, I have to check this out,

I would say there’s a very high chance that non Apple Maps will work just fine in parallel. But Apple Maps may be disconnected with Ford Nav, it seems to be more tightly integrated into the car.

if I was using one Nav and changed to the other I would see in the instrument cluster that the other one was being cancelled, it would say Nav being cancelled and see new instructions in the cluster. I would then Check the other Nav and would see that the dest. was cancelled.

now both are still running but I don’t know which one is showing up in Nav. something to do tomorrow.

also the non Apple map is only Ford Nav. if I used google or Waze thru CarPlay they didn’t not show up in the cluster.

FB13102547 (Directions not displaying on dash screen using Maps on CarPlay.)

I reported this incident on 9/4/23. They are saying I’m the only one to report this. It is intermittent when it occurs.

I’ve been on iOS 17 beta since it dropped and only started getting this issue when I updated my IPC on the car. As @DevSecOps mentioned above and in his post a couple of months ago when he tried the MME on a longer drive again, he got the same thing and is on android.

I think the Apple feedback that’s open is for it not showing the turn at all, not the fact that it says connected road, which again, seems to be on Ford’s end.

I hadn’t had these problems before the update to iOS 17 But anything is possible.

curious, in Android, when using Waze does the IPC show the instructions?
Previously yes it showed for years using any mapping software. Now it doesn't. The updated OS doesn't mean it's Apple. It could mean that Apple is doing things based on standards which were updated in the new OS, but Ford isn't doing it the new way.

The other reason I think this is a Ford issue is because navigation does work on the main screen, it's just the IPC with issues.

I think this bug is with Ford. It's been around for a while for Android in Google maps and Waze. It wasn't an issue before a vehicle update about 4-5 months ago.

No through the beta process Apple acknowledged that the issue was in IOS within the release notes. This issue is a iOS issue, and Apple does know about it.

"During navigation using Apple Maps, upcoming turn information might not be displayed correctly in the vehicle’s instrument cluster or heads-up display. (109437630)"

I started Google maps yesterday and it cancelled the Ford Nav. My old phone is on 15.7.8.

does google map show directions in the IPC and are you using an I phone? Assume yes but double checking

Yes I get that, but they also list it as a fixed issue. Since we're seeing this across multiple platforms and the issue is identical, my bet is it's Ford.

I could be wrong, and I'm not saying, nor have I said, 100% it's guaranteed to be Ford. You're hard stuck on "it's Apple". I guess we'll have to wait and see.

There are many times where "It's fixed" but it's not. Again, like I said in my posting, Apple is aware and have acknowledged the issue is still occurring within Radar.
