At this time, Tesla only intends to open up ~10% of their Supercharger Network in the US. They know the advantage it gives them, and they will open some parts of it up to play nice, but there are no plans to open it all up.
1. "....at this time."

2. Tesla doesn't play nice. I have no problem with that, my point is that they're doing it for a reason....likely either to get state/federal funds (which I'm hearing they can't?), or to test these for when they have to role them out to every station at a future date. Otherwise, they're just diluting their advantage.

Actually, Tesla is opening 20% of the current network, which when they are done by end of 2024, and have expanded the network, will be 10% of the network.

Elon wants some of the $7.5B.

Source? Everything I've read said 10%.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/bradte...plex-and-the-plans-misguided/?sh=56db4ba33b7c

EDIT - I see what you mean, 10% after network expansion.
How many Tesla SuperChargers exist in the US today? Answer seems to be around 17,000.

How many will be made CCS by end of 2024? Answer is 3,500. 3,500/17,000 = 20.6%.

How many Tesla SuperChargers will exist in the US by end of 2024? Tesla says it will double the network. 34,000. 3,500 / 34,000 = 10.3%.

So it depends how many go to CCS and how fast as to what the percentage will be at any point in time, but the absolute number is 3,500.

Am I the only one with a distaste for the CCS connector?
Distaste is a strong word. I wish it was smaller, but I don't really care.

The rumor is that Bird's Eye 360 Camera view could be implemented by Tesla immediately, they just don't want to do it because someone else owns the patent (Nissan) and they would have to pay royalties for every car in the fleet. When the patent expires, I'm sure they will add it, as their current cameras support the feature, it's just not turned on.
There's no front bumper camera, not sure how complete the info would be there.

I currently have a 2021 Tesla Model Y. I bought it as my first EV and the supercharger network was robust enough that I wasn't worried about the many 400+ mile road trips I take. That said, there are too many other things about it that I thought I could originally live with, but they've proven to be enough that I'm ready to move on to the MME.

The build quality is major. Sure, the panels don't align and I thought I'd be ok with that, but I'm a car detailing guy. I can't get past it. More than that though, the rattles and squeaks inside the car drive me beyond nuts. Every time I accelerate or decelerate it's click... click. Every. Single. Time.

Then there's the music/entertainment. Because it's all streaming based, I'll sometimes go 5-10 minutes randomly during drives where I get the spinning circle and silence. My wife mockingly then plays music through the speaker on her phone.

No satellite radio. No CarPlay.

Oh, and perhaps most of all. When I walk up and look at my car I feel absolutely nothing. It has no soul. It truly is just an appliance.

I know I'm giving up the SC network for the CCS network and it will be a huge drop in charging experience. I'm ok with that because I know today will always be the worst day from this point going forward. It will only get better.

I think there are a lot of people like me who currently have a Tesla, and for the reasons here - as well as Elon - are ready to move on.

Such people would be in the minority and definitely not enough to drive MachE volume at prices above Model Y's. Remember Model Y's far superior OTA updates, phone and infotainment interface, faster supercharging network, sentry cam & live cam footage are just some of the features that most drivers would prefer over whatever Ford has to offer, including Bluecruise.
I have talked to many people who won't buy a Tesla because it's owned by someone whose lifestyle (many children with many women) and/or political views they don't agree with.
I have also talked to several Mach-E owners who previously owned a Tesla Y or 3 and they much prefer the style and comfort of the Mach-E. Having test driven a Y myself, I have to agree.

It still feels we are in the infancy of this game. The "early days" of the BEV transition. Not at all surprised things get bloody from time to time. The thing is, old companies like Ford and GM typically take the long view on what they do. You don't invest in something like Blue Oval City in reaction to one quarter's financial activity. The dust has far from settled and I'm hanging onto my Ford shares (hell Tesla doesn't even pay dividends :p ).
How much were those dividends again?

I keep a small "for fun" brokerage account that I "manage". All the stocks in it pay dividends for DRI purposes. I don't have the time, energy or inclination for day trading. So I buy cheap shares with dividends. I bought my Ford for like $5 per. My primary, professionally managed account (retirementl) has plenty of growth shares, including TSLA. I was being tongue in cheek 🙄
