Hey yall,

Has anyone seen this happening when opening your side mirrors? Never happened before, and just noticed it today. Seems like it fidgets to open but closes perfectly fine.

Happens on both sides.

I did notice mine doing that recently as well. When I saw it I wasn't sure if it was new or if I just hadn't paid attention before. Could it be a temperature thing in case the mirror is frozen? Help it break out of ice?

Maybe? Right now its high 50's where I am, so I dont think it is frozen. Before when it had snow and was freezing, the mirrors didnt do that. So I am not sure  just weird it closes perfectly fine.

If it happens on *both* side mirrors, and at the same time in a synchronized fashion, that's more interesting. Suggests software rather than hardware issue. And you seem to being saying it does this little dance ONLY when opening up, but not when closing. This seems novel. Software bug issues tend to first be something you reboot your computer to fix. Some others will likely post possible steps you could do to reset the car to some degree (e.g. unplug the 12V battery, reset the SYNC system, etc).

Yeah it happens to both of the side mirrors at the same time just when opening. Closing is fine. I havent gotten any new software updates, so not sure what caused this to happen today.

After the car is off, overnight, his type of software glitch may never happen again.

If you read this forum and others after a while you come to understand that the car is a first generation model from a company making its very first "modern" EV. It will have software glitches. Some find the innocent behavioral glitches (those that are not terribly problematic) tolerable or amusing and just part of the vehicle's quirks.

Same. I'll take this over the 'drive mode unavailable' bug. It seems that one was finally fixed.

Lol I get the drive mode unavailable bug still sadly, so I have both these problems plus more. I am going wednesday to have other work done (including the unavailable situation), so I guess I will mention the side mirrors and see what they say.

Has this happen on other cars with electric mirrors. Try this.

Electrically open the mirror, then manually fold them. Then try to electrically fold them then electrically open them.

If that doesnt reset things to smooth operation then try this.
Electrically fold. Manually open. Electrically open, electrically close and open.

This has been happening to my 2021 for the last couple weeks. Sounds like a software issue if this many of us are just seeing it now. Hopefully Ford is working on a fix.
