Today on the way back from work I stopped off at a store. I locked my car after I parked and went shopping. Walking back to my car, the lift gate opened when I was about 3 feet from the car. It's never done that before. Pretty sure the Kick to Open sensor didn't open it since I was pretty far from the car and the KtO sensor doesn't work 2/3 of the time anyhow. Just super-weird. 🤷‍♂️🐩

That's a feature on my Kia EV6 GTL.

was it raining? no serious question...or rather speculative question. I turned it off a year ago got tired of it.

Happened to me twice over the past couple of months just turning on the light in my garage. Cool feature though! Saves me the hassle of the foot dance under the bumper. Maybe a reflection off my floor triggered the kick sensor?

No way, it's not a light sensor, completely different type. More like it detected your PAAK or fob nearby after you entered the garage. I think your car needs updated BCM software.

Had that once over the summer. But I wasn’t anywhere near the car. Parked at a DCFC by backing in and walked away to go get a drink and use the restroom. Came back and the lift gate was wide open. Kick sensor couldn’t have caused it as the car was locked and there was no way to get to it (not enough room between the car and fence around the transformers that I had backed up to).

Happened twice in my garage but luckily didn't cause any damage as I already set my trunk height to a safe level. I disabled the feature. I wondered if they fixed it eventually by updates but I guess not. I'll keep it off.

We have enough critters (cats, opossums, raccoons, etc.) in our neighborhood that could run under the cars that I disabled it. I park outdoors near where we keep our trash cans and dog poop bags that we do get visitors there.

Dry as a bone. Northern California drought. 😱🐩

It was also relatively cool (low 50s F) and sunny. 🤷‍♂️🐩

My old car used to have the trunk open by itself.

Found out it wasnt by itself, it was just my keys pushing the trunk button in my pocket if I sat on them.

Heh, but I was about 5 miles from my keys and they were in RF mitigating coverings inside of my safe. I wish it was my keys, then I could explain it. 🤷‍♂️🐩
