Liftgate internal activation

Has there been any discussion about moving the internal activation button from the controls screen to be accessible from any screen? It drives me a little nuts that if I'm driving home from the grocery story and listening to music that I have to switch screens to open the liftgate when I get home.

Has been discussed. It probably won’t happen. And yes, it sucks the way they did it.

I second Jeff's post. I did this mod as well and use it all the time. There's three ways to get this thing to work with a physical button - replace one of the buttons in the lower-left instrument cluster, add a momentary button/toggle to the center console, or repurpose the useless "Parking" button, also on the center console. I chose the '"parking" button.

One of the best and practical mods you can do. I'm sure Mr. Boris will be along shortly to give you more information 😀

No I won't be because you gave all the information needed.

I install one of these physical liftgate momentary switches in most the Mach-E's that have come here for suspension work. Not sure if they are happier with the new suspension or liftgate switch. Seems to be a toss up. 🤣

The internal button is very useful. I use it very often, but mine came from autoease liftgate kit :)

@markboris , I would vote for suspension since I can control liftgate from key fob or app, but unfortunately no control to suspension from key fob :)

I will also advocate for installing an internal button. I did very much like the first post in that thread, and installed one on the front of the center console. Very handy, and I use it 5-6 times a week!

I wish that Ford had spent the $5 that I spent on installing that switch, and built it in like a normal car. I think the car manufacturers are finally coming around to the realization that physical switches for things that are accessed a lot are a good idea again... slowly...

Lol. Yes, it’s been “discussed.” By which I mean I’ve probably yelled about this at least 4-5x per year for the past five years. Including posting, calling, emailing, etc.

And we’re certainly not the only ones to request this. Ford just doesn’t seem to care or has a reason they’re not sharing for why they won’t pin this to the top ribbon.

I’ll say it again: opening the trunk is not a “setting.” And it is cuckoo bananas that there are two one-tap means of activating max defrost but not a single one-tap means of opening the trunk.
