Same.
The ramp up is incredible. It sounds like maybe the suppliers were finally able to confirm they could meet or exceed the delivery requirements. Having 2 shifts running now or very soon is a very very good sign. Without a doubt, there must have been a TON of coordination efforts to make this a reality.

We'll probably get some more details from the insiders when allowed....
The scale of an auto manufacturing plant is hard to imagine. Literally thousands of employees.

But Ford may arguably be the best in the world at it. They certainly have the longest track record. This is just one of 65 plants they have around the world.

Ahh, but for some, like me, I am retiring on 12/31/2020 and so my income (and thus Federal taxes) decrease significantly. As such, it will be difficult for me to even hit the $7,500 in actual tax liability unless I take a large sum out of my 401(k) [~$60,000] to get to the $7,500 tax liability.

Hopefully, I can make the 401(k) withdrawal(s) and put it somewhere for safe keeping.

Yes, it does make a big difference for some of us.
I sympathize. I’m retiring 12/16.

Yes, but they wanted them to be legitimate orders for that same customer. Not 2 orders for a customer that's only intending to buy 1 (thus leaving a late cancel for the dealer to snag one for inventory).

I "offered" that to my dealer (saying he could keep my Premium order open till the last minute if he wanted so he could get one for inventory), and initially he liked the idea. But later he told me that Ford had warned dealers not to do that, and to clean up any 2nd orders (unless that customer was actually buying 2, of course). Which makes sense as it would be unfair to other customers with orders.
True. Ford did warn dealers about that. I am told there is a grading system with the highest grade being retail orders that end up with the original buyer and lower grades where they do not. How low depends on the reason for non delivery. The presumption is the grade affects future allocations of eventual stock orders.

And of course......a savy dealer would easily be able to manage that risk in a reasonable fashion I am sure.

My dealer gave me the VIN but not the build date. At least it shows up as a Blue Grabber FE on the website.

If you have a ViN then you are close to getting a date especially for an FE (if not already scheduled). Not seen a date beyond mid Jan so far.

Your car is the first one that I've seen with a "1" in the 13th place on the VIN.....

Where is ChasingCoral? How does that line up with your projected 10,000 th unit projection?

Remember there's already plenty of Fords on the lot in the same Rapid Red.

I forget if you said which dealership you're using (Freeway?), but you could always run over and check out the Rapid Reds. Even Mustangs...

Yeah, we're really close to Freeway Ford. We might pop over there this weekend. There was a Rapid Red Explorer in our neighborhood and she didn't like that. But I think seeing some of the photos of the Rapid Red Mach-E changed her mind. I think it wears the Rapid Red better.

Could be a great opportunity to do a Roth conversion if you don’t need the withdrawal.
