Looks like the Mach-E us being used by medics but no patient transport. The article says the Mach-E allows for faster response with packed London streets compared to a "traditional ambulance".

Fair enough... although, I would call that an "Emergency Vehicle"... Dictionary.com has two definitions for 'Ambulance':

1. a specially equipped motor vehicle, airplane, ship, etc., for carrying sick or injured people, usually to a hospital.
2. (formerly) a field hospital.

And I don't really see the Mach-e as fitting the definition...

Not exactly used here instead of traditional ambulances and/or as ambulances in the literal or dictionary sense.

They, like very many cars that have been used for years before MMEs were even a twinkle in Ford’s eye, are driven by specialist health professionals or paramedics to get them to casualties for specialist emergency medical assistance ahead of or instead of traditional ambulances depending upon the requirements of each case.

31 million POUNDS, which is over $40 million, for cars and infrastructure.

As part of a £31 million investment programme, the service is also investing in charging infrastructure across its sites and ambulance stations, as well as recruiting new mechanics and upskilling current mechanics to maintain the new fleet.

Each vehicle can (meaning a figure was not released) cost 67,000 pounds.

£67,000 for a car retailing at c£53,000 don’t sound out the way once it’s been fully equipped and commissioned as an emergency services’ vehicle.

When I lived in Germany I often saw emergency motorcycles. Getting the medic to the patient in the "platinum 10" is far more important than getting said patient to the hospital in x amount of time.

With multiple vehicles under heavy daily use it will be a wonderful study case for Ford and for us to see resulting wear on the car and battery.

Somehow I doubt they will all be regularly charging on a DC system - if so, then another good study point to battery wear.
