Mach E... I hope soon.

I am struggling with “to take or not to take” a late Jan delivery of a Premium that is under $55k out of pocket for me with the private cash offer, but over $55k MSRP and therefore gets no tax break.

So… I decide to look around. Thinking I’ll bail on some features for the $7500 savings. I see a LOT of ‘23s sitting in inventory near me. LOADs of GTs. And most shocking of all, several under $55k priced new ‘23s and even comfort-tech ‘22s with BlueCruise included that qualify for the credit.

Dealers I called to confirm pricing are now calling me back pitching me $2k above MSRP and I think I can probably get MSRP. Even on ‘22 MSRP.

Bottom Line: The “begging buyer” era is over unless you live in LA. IRS regs partly killed it. Liberals refusing to buy from Musk is creating excess Tesla supply and contributing. Greedy dealers and manufacturers pocketing the incentives through price increases also plays a role. So if you have an order, check regional inventory. Especially 30-60mi outside your big city. People are bailing and the dealers are in denial. But some are cracking.

I hope you are right. These prices have got to come down significantly. An MME GT PE is not a 77k car.

It’s a matter of time. The fact that only a Select or a Premium SR with no options will qualify for the tax credit kind of makes most of these vehicles a non-starter value wise.

I gave up my GT order in Las Vegas and they are starting to pile up at dealerships here, especially GTs. Carmax and Carvana have a good selection too. Don't pay a cent over MSRP for a new one if you must. But definitely check out the slightly used market.

Overall I can't stand dealerships anymore, they are all shady and it's an extra layer of bereaucracy that is simply out-dated. I'm not a fan of Tesla, but I am a fan of direct sales.

I had never stepped foot on a Ford dealership before October and after my experience with them, I won't consider Ford for anything.

Yep. This has been happening in Texas since late November. Right now I only see a 2022 tech select in DFW and some 2023 Premium with car price tag under $55k. Many 2022 and 2023 ER and GT.

I had a select but I ended up with a Premium AWD ER. Premium is definitely way better. ER is a must have for me. 2022 CR1 is still under $55k and I saw a red one a week or two ago.

Have you called to verify that they are actually un-reserved? My local dealership has 22 on the website and all but one are customer ordered and it is a used GTPE. I asked why they advertise on the website then and he stated that it was an automatic thing Ford does.

I've also called other dealerships in my area and out of the 72 cars in total on all their websites only 5 were un-reserved and all were used.

Confirmed. A big dealer in the Minneapolis / St Paul has over 10 un-reserved MMEs available on their website. All with ADM though ??
They best get out the feather dusters. And man I bet GM can't get its $30ish thousand Equinox to market fast enough. Sure, not the same performance as many MME variants but the average consumer won't care when (if?) the Equinox beats the MME on price and charging speed. Range seems to be about the same.

Competition is good. Oh and let us not forget, Ford itself might eat some MME lunch with its newly announced $20ish crossover in March. Update: That vehicle only appears to be for the EU market ?

Yep. I learned about Ford’s worthless online “inventory” system that treats other peoples orders like inventory a year and a half ago when I started this journey. Since I learned about that, I have been using a combination of third-party websites like cars.com, autotrader, and even google to locate vehicle listings that reflect an actual car being sold. Then I call and give them the vin or description
. My comments about availability and price both 1.5 years ago and now reflect actual phone calls and price discussions about stickered vehicles on lots.

If you’re in a major city, widen your radius. In my case because I’m in the conservative South, I didn’t have to. (Although I’ll never understand my fellow rednecks being opposed to a car that goes 0-60 in less than 4 seconds or a truck that can power an entire job site for a day out of spite for environmentalists.)

As for the Equinox, that thing ain’t gonna be cheap. Every single maker from Tesla to Ford to all the rest announced their cars insanely cheap, but then that price only works for the first people off the waitlist and only for the basest of base models. It’s a PR move not a reflection of the real long term vehicle price.

It’s not just Ford. My wife wanted to look at a Volvo XC90 PHEV. Found one online at a dealer about 100 miles away. Turns out, it was a customer order.

Where I am located (So Calif), prices are still over MSRP.

Gas prices still the highest in the country is leading to the ADM.

Dealers know about the tax credits available on the Select and base Premiums by adding the $10K ADM.

A friend in Nassau County NY had a local dealer offer him a 2022 Prem AWD Extended. He said "I'll take it" The sales girl tells him "and the good news is that I will only charge you $7,000 over sicker instead of $9,000!“
He declined. I referred him to the dealer I am using who told him" $5,000 ADM on anything not custom ordered "
I told him to wait.. They will soon be begging
As far as I go, I'm leaning towards a 39 month lease now.. Who knows what my 2023 Prem AWD Standard range will be worth in 39 months - between technology changing and more competition..
I'll let you know if I made the right decision in 3½ years.
In the meantime, Ford says that my built on 12-22-22 car won't come until Feb?
