Mach-E keeps defaulting to ENGAGE mode

This started happening about 6 months ago after another involuntary software update. My wife always drives the vehicle in Whisper mode. Her driver profile (as well as mine) both use Whisper. However, once out of three times when the vehicle is powered on it defaults to Engage. Pressing the driver profile button doesn't change it. Does anyone know how this bug can be resolved?

We're all in the same boat and waiting for Ford to acknowledge and fix this. It's been over a year I think.

To their (minor) credit though, the current Engage bug is a lot better than a prior one where it would sometimes switch to Engage while driving, sometimes with an alert "Drive Mode Not Available" when the driver tries to change it back to the desired mode.

This hasn't happened to me as much lately, but now that I post this I'm likely jinxing myself. It will probably happen 6 times in a row. It's very strange how it goes in spurts. I have yet to figure out a rhyme or reason to the pattern. At least the big, obnoxious battery bar in Engage mode alerts me immediately that I need to switch back to Whisper mode.

See if setting the guest profile to whisper plus all other common settings you share will temporarily resolve the issue. There used to be a bug that started the car up in guest profile back in the day. I haven’t experienced this particular bug you snd others have because I’m always in engage mode anyway.

It seems to be PAAK related and happen more often if both the fob and the phone are in range. This situation seems to be messing things up. Can someone who exclusively uses the fob tell us if they experience this bug to?

Unfortunately this problem persists with the my2025 cars, as this morning I drove off and immediately felt the car was in engage mode while my profile uses unbridled. Checking the drive mode, the whole ui was orange but the engage button was highlighted, in orange ironically... I had both my phone and the fob with me.

Wow, really? The car is simply asking you to make a commitment instead of simply using it and then doing something else. Get engaged. If you want the milk, buy the cow!

Mine randomly goes into CHRISTINE mode. This undocumented mode turns all internal lighting red. The car makes strange sounds, leaves the garage by itself and constantly plays fifties music. It's quite scary but the advantage is that I get 150 extra hp. On the other hand, the autonomy decreases by 50%.

It happens to me at least once a week. I seem to be the only one experiencing it (all three profiles are set to Whisper mode). I use both PAAK and the key fob, but I never have the fob with me when I’m using PAAK. My profile is #2.

I’ll need to pay closer attention to how it behaves without the fob. Since I usually use the fob, I haven’t noticed whether the issue occurs when I’m using PAAK.

I exclusively use the fob never bothered with paak or set up a profile for it and I get the bug all the time where it will switch from whisper to engage randomly each time I start the vehicle.

As others have stated it is a general problem that was introduced ages ago regardless of method you use the start the vehicle.
