Hi Alex, you can't make it flush with the roof but you can lessen that gap better than what you have now. It is really simple. You just need to loosen the bolts on the mounting bracket, then push up on the back end of the liftgate which forces it to slide back on the mounting bracket which has elongated holes. While pushing back, tighten the bolts. Only do one mounting bracket at a time.Like the title says there is a large gap between the roof and the trunk spoiler on my 2021 Mach-E. Does anyone know how to adjust the trunk to make it flush with the roof?

If yours was like mine and the liftgate is actually a little lower than the roofline, I installed one washer between the bracket and liftgate for each bolt. That brought mine up so it is level with the roof and rear quarter panels. If you do need to add washers, removing the bolts on either side is also easy to do and when both bolts are removed, the liftgate will not fall or anything, It stays in place as long as you don't remove the bolts on both mounting brackets at the same time. Replacing the bolts takes a bit of juggling but you will get it. Also do not over tighten these bolts. They only get tightened SUNG to 22 lb ft.
What mine looks like after I added washers to level liftgate with roof and pushed it all the way forward to lessen the gap.
Thank you so much for all this info this is exactly what I needed to see! I will try this and reply back with an update!!

Movie of the adjustment there is in the mounting bracket. Push the liftgate up as high as you can which pushes it forward on the mounting brackets before you tighten the bolts.

I think it looks really good. You can't get it perfect but it is a lot better.Okay so it’s not perfect but it’s a hell of a lot better! Still some adjusting to do!![]()
I'm assuming when you say "remove it" you are talking about the front bumper cover?Mark, would you have any input on how to fix this? Going to attempt to remove it from the car and see if I can get it back together.

Thank you! Seems like it may be more trouble than it's worth at this point.I'm assuming when you say "remove it" you are talking about the front bumper cover?
In this thread, a member replaced the shutter area without removing the bumper cover. For me, taking off the cover is a 20 min job then you have access to everything. Doing it without removing the cover would probably take longer but I wouldn't know since I don't have issues removing the cover.

Below are instructions on how to remove the front bumper cover if you want to go that route.
Is it possible to remove just the lower bumper easily? I'm referring to the part in my picture that separated from the grill/shutter assembly with broken tabs.I'm assuming when you say "remove it" you are talking about the front bumper cover?

The bumper cover is all one piece with parts attached to it from the inside. You basically need to remove the entire bumper cover to easily get back there to remove or replace any of the attached parts. There was a member that lifted the car and removed the splash cover underneath the car and got up in behind the bumper cover to the area you are talking about and did some work but I don't know exactly what he did and if it is the same as what you need to do. It is not difficult to remove the bumper cover, just a bit time consuming. I've pulled mine off a few times and on several other Mach-E's also. A couple of posts above, I attached the removal instructions from the Ford Service Manual. Is it possible to remove just the lower bumper easily? A friend/member came up for the weekend and yesterday, we removed his front bumper cover because he wanted to paint the lower trim area. Figured we could detach it from the cover and it would be easier to paint. Well, that did not happen. After taking the front bumper cover off, we found there were so many tab/clips holding that trim on that it was extremely difficult to take it off. Decided to just paint the trim piece while on the bumper cover. Is it possible to remove just the lower bumper easily?
