I have a 2022 Mach-E with only 2,000 km on it but my dealership is asking me to come in for its first maintenance. When I look at the maintenance schedule, it says the first maintenance is at 10,000 miles and doesn't specify a time period. The cost is $80 plus tax to do a tire rotation with the remainder being an inspection. I asked if I could get my snow tires changed over and they said it would be an extra $90 plus tax for that service. What I would like to know is whether you are being asked to do a service visit when your car is 6 months old regardless of mileage. If so, are you accepting the appointment or following the maintenance schedule that came with the vehicle? I'm feeling that this is premature.

Is there another dealer near you? If so, you should switch because that dealer is trying to take advantage of you.

There is a 6 mo inspection period, but it shouldn't cost $80. And most of it you can do yourself.
I would find a different dealer, and I would tell both dealers why I was switching.

Thanks for finding that listing for me. When I checked the online manual, it only gave me the 10,000 mile checkup. I asked the dealership to email me details on what they wanted to check so I could make an informed decision. They promised to send me an email, but didn't actually follow up.

They don’t want to lie in writing.

If you drive the vehicle more than once a month or so you'll notice any of the things on the 6 mo inspection, except perhaps the coolant level. You'll need to pop off the beauty cover in the frunk space to check that. It's straightforward to do.

You can also open up FordPass and go to the service tab and then "Maintenance Schedule" and it will tell you when it's due and what's due.

Like @generaltso said, find another dealership.

The post with the 6 month checks conveniently left out the most important part. Those are OWNER checks and are to be performed by YOU. Those are not dealership service schedules. No one is bringing their car in monthly for owner checks.

The normal scheduled maintenance, where you bring it in for service, is shown below:

Some years ago, Ford sent a letter to all the dealers, asking them to stop "recommending" maintenance that wasn't in the maintenance schedule. Some dealers did, some did not.

When your dealer recommends maintenance (not repairs) that aren't listed, you should respond with one of the following:

- Can you show me where Ford recommends that for my vehicle?

- Why doesn't the Scheduled Maintenance in the manual / FordPass say that?

or, my favorite:

- Go pound sand.

My nearly 90 year old mother booked her annual tire rotation and oil change at her dealer. They recommended over $700 of bullcrap. 17,000 miles. She said no, called me, and then told them "show me where it says that in my manual". They said "it's Florida, it calls for very extreme maintenace". She told them, probably too nicely, "go pound sand".

I'd say that depends on whether the dealer asked for their current mileage. Likely they were just estimating.

Local Honda dealer did that to my daughter. She went ahead and paid (didn’t ask what they were going to do before hand). She told them it’s the last time they’ll see her. They tried to tell her it would void the warranty if she didn’t have them work on it. Total sleazeball dealership. They used to be locally owned and pretty good. Got bought out by a bigger group and this is their way now.

Fordpass will notify you 30 days before it's due for service so that you can schedule it with your dealer. I just got my 20k at 18,994. But my real concern is I've had the car in about 10 times, and the only charge was for NYS inspection. Service is supposed to be covered for 3 years. At least on the 2021 models.

False. Maintenance is not covered, at all, for any year Mach-E.

All I know is I haven't had to pay for the 10k. Obviously the others were recalls and other problems.

Great points. I was worried I was going to do something to void my warranty if I didn't let them check these things and charge me for it.

My dealership knew how little I drove. I traded in a 2014 escape with only 52,000km on it and I had vehicles from them before so they had all of my service records.
