In the last six months, the dealer from whom I bought my'25 MachE has sent out the mobile truck to do two separate recalls on my car. The two techs that do the work were the same fellows on both visits. Thes guys were great. friendly, on time, accommodating and got the job done. My dilemma is, should I tip these guys? Like maybe $10.00 a piece. You know, go buy a cup of coffee on me. I know tipping has got out of hand, but what do you guys think?

A separate inquiry. I find I'm not home charging the car until it gets down to about 60 miles left on the guess o'meter. When I had my ice car I would gas up at 1/2 a tank. Do most of you guys keep it closer to 80% or like me let it run down to 30-40%?

I plug in every time I get home. Doesn’t matter if it’s at 10% or 80%
Why not have a full tank at all times?
This, I have two teenage drivers that as everyone knows are unpredictable. In the event I have to go rescue/help/change a tire. I don't want to have to delay to charge up enough to go help. I do however limit my charging to 90% but do plug in every single time I am home.

I don’t tip the mechanic at the dealer, why would I tip them if they do the job in my driveway? It’s up to you, but I wouldn’t feel obligated in the slightest.

i have had mobile out 3 or 4 times so far. I remember the first time he updated a few extra modules while he was here, I tipped him 20 bucks. I don’t remember if I tipped every time after that, but would hand been 10 or 20 if I did. I have no idea how much the mobile guys are paid, but would assume they’re paid well, seeing how they charge $150 or so per hour for labor when you take it in. I’m so thrilled to not have to take it to the dealership I’m happy to pay a little extra. As far as I can tell they don’t charge extra to come to the house. With warranty/recall repairs it’s different, that’s something they are required to take care of. When he came out to replace my 12v out of warranty, I definitely tipped.

Despite my previous post, I totally agree, you shouldn’t feel obligated at all. My job the last 32 years was a minimum wage, tip based position, so I will always tip if I’m not sure, or if someone just goes way above and beyond.

My thought as well, though I get it that at service at somehow just home feels different.

As for charging, we all have our strategies (or lack there of). Unless I have a specific reason to need a full battery, I tend to charge when my car is around 60% or lower. But a good part of the reason I don't charge more often is that my garage is tiny and squeezing past the charging plug is a bit of a tight fit. The most important thing about charging is to not let the battery sit at either low or high extremes for extended periods. Other than that, it don't really matter much. You can let your driving needs dictate your charging pattern.

I don't drive much since I retired so I usually wait the car gets down below 70% and then charge it back up to 90%. I drive so little that I usually finish up charging about once per week. Of course, if I am going to be doing a longer drive I will make sure that the car is charged up before setting off.

Hey, if you usually tip folks in the dealership when you are getting Service, should do it at your house too. I can only imagine how amazed and happy the folks would be at the Service Center if I tipped them each time. They would definitely remember my name and treat me right.

1) Tipping culture needs to die. Everyone should be paid appropriately from their employer. Tipping just makes employers think they can pay less and expect customers to tip to make up the difference. Tipping culture needs to die.

2) If you're not driving the car, it should be plugged in. That should always be the habit. Set a charge limit of 80-90% as the manual says and always plug it in.

Manual tells you to charge to charge to 90%, 100% if a standard range. There is zero reason to not charge every night. Zero.

I wouldn’t tip. But I do generally offer a pop or energy drink for people doing work at my house if it’s just 1-2 people. My wife paid for pop & pizza delivery once when we had a group of young guys putting in drain tile in our basement. Over half of it was jackhammering up cement in the crawlspace. What a miserable job that was for them lol.

I charge to 90-95% in the Spring through the Fall. Then usually switch to 95% during Winter. Plug in most of the time I’m home.

As for tipping, yes, I’ll tip for home service. Also the tire and detail guys. I charge nightly. It’s better on the battery to charge from 70% to 90% than 10-20% to 90%.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Ford mobile service here in North Jersey.....whether delivering a loaner or service, always on time and quick.....as for tipping, when in college in the 60's, I worked for a chain appliance store.....people usually tipped, and boy were those tips appreciated by me.....I usually tip, amount based upon type of work performed.....
As far as charging, I'm retired, so my driving is not regular....in winter I charge 90%-95%, warm months usually 90%......charging is always at home and I usually try to keep a good charge in case of an emergency......this is my 3rd Mach e (Select, Premium, GT), a long story, and I have always charged this way.....seems to work for me......

I usually charge when it gets to around 40% or if I know I will need to take a trip (rare as I don't drive a ton). I also share the charger with my wife (EV6) and she does the same. Call it laziness but our cars are outside, and weather can be an influence as to whether we feel like it. More of an issue for her as she has to back down the driveway. This has worked for us for 5 years, so probably won't change.

Back in the day, when I had an ICE vehicle, I usually filled up when the gauge was between 1/4 and 1/3. Or if the lines were particularly short at Costco.
