How often do you road trip?

Frequency of a trip that requires DCFC?

I would rather sit for a root canal than drive 400 miles without stopping. But if it works for you, rock on. Not to pry or be overly graphic, but how do you pee while driving??
My brother travels with a pee jug. I think that is brilliant because he has extra hydration options if he runs out of water. My brother is an idiot. And he lives in NJ. Sort of explains it.

My definition of road trip is any drive that requires more than a charge at home. I do it every time I go to the office, which is sometimes weekly. That is how I know public charging sucks.

Oh, well, 5-7 grandkids means 2 cars or a 3 row vehicle, and there really aren't enough affordable (and adequately long range for rural Alaska) 3 row EV options yet. R1S... EV9 if it can have a hitch... Eventually EX90... But hopefully in the next few years, more will become available. But yeah, can't quite haul that much in a MME yet. The thought of a 3 row Mustang that could hold 8 people would be hilarious, though.
My oldest is 19 now so they will soon be moving on soon and I hope they wait a bit for great grandchildren! But I am looking forward to the next iteration of the Mach e and maybe Ford will release an Explorer type vehicle.

Maybe he should just wear a diaper like that astronaut lady!

All our long trips are in our motor home. Sometimes I will put the MME on my trailer to take but we usually tow a Highlander. Today was my first time using a DCFC. Once we get access to Tesla Superchargers I will be more willing to take the MME on long trips.

Road to Hana?
I’d get wet. I rather stupidly forgot to buy the 12,000 foot snorkel option of the MME. On a semi serious note I can make it around the island with a few diversions, such as to Kilauea, on a full charge with good reserves. There aren’t any decent DCFC options around here anyway.

I’d say we road trip four to six times per year. Though in Aug/Sept we took three road trips in less than four weeks.

In one year of ownership I've taken three trips to Montreal from Toronto, ~600 km each way. I'd like to make it all the way out to our summer house, but that's 1,500 km over two days with some barren stretches which make me a bit nervous. Most chargers along the way are also 50 kWh, so it would realistically end up being three days vs. two in the ICE.

Pretty darn frequently - we've done 9 or 10 trips that required DC Fast charging, five of them around 1700 mile round-trip drives. While I've passed on chargers due to a line I've never hit a non-functional level 3 that wasn't flagged in plug share or been out of driving range of a back up charger.
How much of your success is due to good planning, and how much is the infrastructure helping?

Your experience is impressive and heartening, but less heartening if you spend days meticulously planning the route. More impressive, though.

For my trips, the hardest part is finding a level 2 charger at a hotel that allows dogs. My trips may have relatively adequate numbers of chargers to EVs, though. It's pretty decent from Ottawa, ON, to Sherbrooke, QC, leaving sparse rural stretches west of Ottawa to the French River (North Bay and Deep River magic docks have helped with charging speed in that stretch, though) and east of Sherbrooke to central Maine. My other trip from central Maine to northeast Ohio is likewise very manageable. Only had one stop where we couldn't charge due to line size, but we had enough range to get to another stop without stress.

I suspect this part of the continent is relatively easier, while rural areas out west like north Dakota require more planning and risk due to limited back-up options, and urban high EV adoption regions might not be getting infrastructure up as fast as EV adoption.

We only road trip once or twice a year.

Thanksgiving is one of the usual trips but not this year. I have rented a minivan as we are driving seven people and we don’t fit in the MME.
