Do you really use blue cruise that often?

It was built into my car price, but I wouldn't miss it if I had to subscribe to an outrageous figure like that. It's nice, but around the DMV and tri-state area, people will switch in front of you and drive like a turtle and I don't trust the system to consistently go up and down in speed while avoiding collision.

As do I but I use it as a tool. I'll click it on when I need to clean my glasses or get something in my eye while driving. Afterwards, I usually drop back to ACC with no lane centering.

I also use it if I am out late and still need to drive home. Reaction times are slowed when sleepy or fatigued so I use BC as the driver "assistance" it's meant to be.

That's me too. I use ACC heavily (speed control). But I'll only click on Lane Centering (steering control) on very rare occasion on a road trip on a wide open highway (never next to another car) for maybe 20 seconds if I have to take my eyes off the road to do something with both hands. And I did keep it on one time when I needed to do an emergency 12-hr drive all night back home to take control in case I nodded off (even though I still steered myself, fighting it's nudging).

That was LC rather than BC. But I suppose the only difference is eye-tracking so it doesn't warn you every 30 seconds or so (I think).

Sounds like tons of people use it. Not sure what % of that is simply because it's cool tech and people are naturally drawn to play with the cool tech whenever it's there. But cool or not, I just don't like the feel of it. It tends to drift to the right line for me and makes me nervous; it doesn't care about avoiding pot holes and bumps; it disengages at on/off ramps a lot; and I simply don't trust it. I'm MORE on edge and stressed with it on, not less. Constantly watching to see if I need to take over from a sudden fail at 80 MPH that could kill us in a split second.

So I steer myself, like I've been doing for 50 years. Way less stressful, and I enjoy driving ayway. Love ACC for speed control though. Totally different than handing over the steering. Speed control is gradual (and proven); steering control is sudden and still too untrustworthy for my tastes.

I assume LC will still be functional in the car after the BC trial expires, just like it was before BC. That's all I want, and very rarely at that.

I would, as I think about it, probably at least consider HFBC use more often if it were clearer to me when it was actually available. In my "normal" driving, there are 2 stretches of road that occasionally pop up the BC available toast. I don't think it's consistent, or at least I definitely don't notice it on a regular basis. One is an area conducive to eating ice cream or ham sandwiches, and I would certainly consider its use if I didn't have to wait for the popup to activate it, not knowing if I missed it already or if it hadn't shown yet. That section dropped out of rotation as of yesterday, though (to my palette's chagrin and my waistline's delight), leaving only the other section, which is always trafficky and in need of direct control so not a candidate for BC use for me, in any case.

In specific use cases I could potentially use it more, but I can't even be bothered to look up how to use it better, much less pay for it. I suppose I'm just not interested in using the technology in general. But I see other people's use, and I look forward to more cars using the technology and developing the traffic patterns that will inevitably occur. They ought to make for nice, compliant, mobile obstacle courses for drivers.

I would not pay for the service. I've had the car try to rear end someone a few times, so I don't trust it (set to max distance in stop and go traffic car accelerates hard with less than 30ft between me and the stopped car ahead). The lane centering also sucks, so I'm skeptical to truly let my guard down.

I didn't buy it, don't want it, would never use it even if I had it.

I'd prefer the cost savings on a 'base model' if the extra sensors, front camera, and steering controls could be NOT built in. I like the backup camera, but that's about it.

yes, I am 'retro', but I would like a smaller center screen that doesn't stick up above dash.... and I'd like HVAC controls to be dials and buttons rather than screen. I really just don't trust the longevity of a computer screen in a vehicle cabin with extreme temps.

Honesty, I'd be more curious how many miles people use BCHF a week. I may turn BC on 2-3 time a week, but rarely use it for more than 4 miles at a time because it cuts out too often around Dallas

Also in Dallas and it's pretty good on 75, 635 North, I20 between Dallas and Fort Worth. It's horrible on Loop 12.

Tesla‘s free auto pilot is far more advanced than fords paid blue cruise, not to mention safer.

What do you mean more advanced? Isn't the free autopilot just adaptive cruise control and lane centering? That's like what comes with the Mach-E if you don't get BlueCruise. I think Tesla users report much more phantom braking than the Mach-E.

its more advanced since it mostly relies on vision as allowed to a heavy reliance on radar/LiDAR and performs better under real world testing for obstacle avoidance and high variable situations. It’s not a simple “is there a car in front of me” system. Teslas system looks at break lights, signs, cones, many vehicle types animals, etc. as for reports of phantom breaking Tesla has far more auto pilot vehicles on the road with more data than every other company combined.

I use it almost every time I go on the freeway for more than a few miles. Would it be worth $600 or $800 per year to keep having it after three years? No, probably not. I don't value the hands-free nearly as much as the adaptive cruise control. Even with BC on, my hands only come off the steering wheel to show off to passengers.

Now if I lose the adaptive cruise control (the part that automatically adjusts speed to keep from driving into the preceding vehicle's tailpipe) then I would think long and hard about how much it is worth to me.

I have a 20-mile commute every day, with most of it interstate. BC is utilized whenever I'm on the interstate.

What is Blue Cruise? Only hands-free mode, or the whole adaptive cruise control system?

Originally (back in 2020/2021 when we were waiting for our cars), BlueCruise was the hands-free system. Ford has since renamed its ACC system as BlueCruise and what was BlueCruise is now BlueCruise Hands-Free (BCHF). Kind of how they had Co-Pilot 360 Assist 2.0 vs. Co-Pilot 360 Active 2.0 packages (which were the hardware packages for ACC and BCHF). Gotta love Ford’s idiotic and confusing naming. ??

Well, I probably "use it" every day. I tend to let it run things when it's available. It's just that it's only available for short bursts and panics on turns.

I've only had it 1-1/2 months but other than the 100 mile drive home from the dealership, and one mini road trip, it's simply not available consistently enough to bother paying for.

No. I would be perfectly happy with adaptive cruise control and no hands free driving for $0/year.

No way I'm paying that kind of scratch for BC.....I live 30 min North East of Atlanta. Literally a mile or 2 off of I-85. Once a week I travel to a surgery center that requires me to travel on I-85 for about 10 miles and I will use it, but the # of times it switches from hands free to hands on and sometimes cancels on this major Interstate in this relatively small section is ridiculous. I find the same experience when I travel down to Atlanta.

The system is not refined enough to charge those kind of prices.........Are you guys seeing this? Or is it maybe based on each individual car's performance, as we have seen with many functions of the MME. #Farley I'm in @ $200 for 3 years

I think you may have a camera calibration or software issue. I had a similar situation except it gave me a “driver monitor camera” error as it dropped out. I had my glass replaced due to a crack and after safelite did the standard windshield replacement my BCHF works flawlessly. I used to have a dropout/error every drive and now I haven’t had one issue in over a month of daily commuting both ways with HFBC.

I don't use blue cruise much because it likes to center/center right in a lane. This is a big problem because in Southern California, people like to hug the left lane. This puts the MME uncomfortably close to the car in the next lane.
