Ford CEO warns Trump tariffs will ‘blow a hole’ in the US auto industry like we’ve never seen
https://electrek.co/2025/02/11/ford-ceo-warns-trump-tariffs-will-blow-a-hole-in-us-auto-industry/
Clearly he’s wrong. Obviously paying more for steel, aluminum, and all vehicles they make in Canada and Mexico, plus all the parts they order from those countries along with others, will trickle down to costing less.

Because if you pay more for something, egg prices go down and everything is great.

It’s all logical, just stop thinking about it.

Oh and we can't speak politics here.
Admins lose their minds. Any talk of EV policy, or tariffs or trade is a no no!
Not really. The NEVI thread had dozens of political posts after it got derailed. It went on about 3 days too long before it got squashed.

It is possible to bring up politics as long it remains germane to the topic at hand and doesn't derail into name calling. Sadly, there are people on this forum who can't resist name calling when presented with a differing opinion than their own. Even if they might be right.

It was refreshed in 25. They moved the 'shifter' and added vented seats in the Premium.
#job-done.
Oh, don’t forget the miniaturized frunk that they invested a ton of engineering hours in because “customers demanded it” ?

Ford has stated in the past that the MME refresh will take place in “late 2026.” That means it will be a 2027 model year car. They have not stated what the refresh will entail, so anything other than the one statement is speculation. ??
An easy guess is the introduction of the NACS port. But where it will be located is unknown. I hope like the Rivian location.

The “three on the tree” was their nod to J Mays retro designs. Think of it as the world’s ugliest “Easter egg”.

This has probably been asked before but any rumours of a major refresh to the MachE? The looks and feel have been around now for 4 model years that seem to be the max time line before a refresh.

Looks like all cars to be made in the great USA for Ford. Canada to open up EV's from China to replace the big three. Anyone jealous that Canadians get these tech advance cheap costing cars?
Honestly, I wouldn’t buy a new Mach E at this point. I’d find a ‘22 or ‘23 with some of its original 36k warranty left and save a bundle of cash.

The Mach E is a great car, but why take a massive depreciation hit buying new for battery tech that’s four years old and a model that’s gonna be refreshed in two more years?

The one thing everyone has been asking for of course:

That's why leasing makes so much sense right now. You'll be able to get a new car after the refresh and let other people work out the bugs for a year (assuming that timeline holds). Plus no deprecation hit.

Ford EV plans are all over the place at the moment and that is taking into account classic Ford mentality of there is a plan, until the the next day when it is a different plan lol.

As for the mach-e happy to be proved wrong but I doubt you will seen any major updates or a gen 2.0, all you will probably get is a ncas charge port, the 2025 has had some updates to go along with the years of steady bean counting discontenting so take it for what it is.

If you find a 2025 or early used mach-e ticks your boxes and can get a good deal on one then go ahead get it drive it into the ground and get your enjoyment and money worth out for what it is if there is a gen 2 then great, but I wouldn't wait for one as Ford appears to have thrown all its ev eggs into what ever the new smaller EV will be coming out of the skunkworks, while they leave the rest to wither and die on the vine in classic Ford fashion.

This is exactly what I just did. Got a '22 GT with almost a year of the 3/36 left for a 50k discount off the original sticker. So much more value over new. I know the newer cars are a bit cheaper now than the '22s, but they still will take a huge depreciation hit the first couple years.

I’m not saying a lease never makes sense, but… “no depreciation hit”? You’re paying the depreciation with a lease.

Buying lightly used after someone else eats $15-20k in depreciation is the way to go. Just find one with enough warranty left to work out any kinks.

Totally agree. I think we’re 5-6 years out from something meaningfully better - by which I mean materially better battery/charging tech. But that’s all the more reason to buy lightly used during this middle period. There are screaming good values. People buying new during this middle period - well they’ve either got the money to burn or they’re not making the wisest choice.
