I'm sure it looked good on paper while it lasted, but the base price of a Model 3 went up $7000 last year alone according to Autoweek and the least expensive Model 3 went from $35k to $38k the year before that (that's a $3k increase). That's a $10k increase since the article you listed was published. No telling how much has changed in the last 3 years with everything going on, but dropping prices temporarily to appear to offset the loss of the tax credit and then raising them by such a significant amount seems more like clever marketing than adjusting for the tax refund. If Elon is good at anything it is hot Twitter takes like these. Granted it may have benefitted a small number of buyers during that window, but it's not like the price was permanently reduced due to the loss of the tax credit.
When I ordered my GTP I was not aware of the 5sec delay and the 0-60 time is not a true 3.5 seconds, I wish ford release a update to extend the 5 seconds overall I am happy for the choice I made and that’s why we have a choice to pick what car we want…. For my first Ford and EV impressed on the quality as the Tesla is not that impressive with the interior.Hard to comprehend getting points for a "Futuristic Interior" when Tesla refuses to provide Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The world lives on their phones today, and integrating it into my GTPE, wirelessly to boot, was an important feature for me, and should be a major interior plus for the Mach-E. The PE seats are better, and we get a screen in front of the steering wheel too. The GTPE is a much better inside experience. The numbers are the numbers on the upper end, and given the Mach weighs around 400lbs more, and has to deal with Ford's 5 second limit, that's hardly surprising. After 2 months of driving mine though, I haven't had a single instance where I felt the power wasn't up to or exceeding the challenge... and I get to drive a much better looking vehicle too.
Uhh…..Everyone loves to be an armchair quarterback, we live in a world of infinite opinions, and in my experience those with the loudest voices have the weakest credentials. Ford has publicly stated they have been conservative with their first BEV foray - one could argue they’ve “bet the company” on the Mach-E. Couple that with the old adage “you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression” and you can understand why F makes the choices they make. Tesla on the other hand is a company run buy a guy who acts like a rock star, and seems to make similar choices. Plus a cult-like fanatical fan base. Tesla never seems to get punished in the court of public opinion (or the stock market for that matter) regards less of the well-documented missteps. I doubt Ford would be given the same treatment Tesla has if the March-E bumpers fell off in the rain, or if you could drive a truck through their panel gaps, or if you found hair in their paint jobs, or parts from Home Depot in their builds. Not to mention the NHTSA scrutiny.
And…nothing that happens in the space of 1320 feet really matters anyway.

I love punching it onto the highway and am im at 80 mph chillin in the fast lane with blue cruise. I watch the grey bars go away after a few secs. The 5 sec power cap is over blown. But would be cool to see how fast it really is with out it but whatever love the car.
Unfortunately the “5 second limit” only gives you 5 seconds in Goldilocks situations:In all honesty if you've hit the 5 second limit, which I do often, you're going to fast for public streets anyway. It is disappointing that it's there but the Mach E is better that the Tesla in so many ways that I forgive it. Not sure about anyone else but I have yet to have anyone take me in a drag race, including several Teslas, and I only have the standard GT
This ↑. I feel the same. Ordered mine before the 5 sec. stuff was known but have zero regrets. Love my GTPE, does what I need for a daily driver and on some twisty roads home never fails to put a smile on face with the handling and acceleration at an apex and out of the corner. I never need much more than 5 sec. of full power else since after that I'm well above the speed limit!I really enjoy my GTPE. The 5 second thing is overblown to me, as I use it as my dad-mobile with the occasional weekend spirited driving session.
I got mine before any of the 5 second stuff came to light, and I’ve thought about if I would have changed my mind on taking delivery if I had known about it. In the end, I’m glad I did. The car has all the features I care about, feels well enough put together, and in my normal driving around has plenty of power to put a smile on my face.
For me the 5 second thing is really disappointing because I feel like the potential should be there, and I bought this car under the assumption it was, regardless of the fact that I don’t need it on a daily basis.
I’m sure that @Ford Motor Company can’t acknowledge any efforts which may or may not be underway to address this, or even the issue itself, but it’d sure be nice for something.

I’m saving my money to see if they can do it right on that iteration. I’ll be first in line to slap my deposit down. If they still can’t get this situation lined out by then, Ford’s BEV performance days are 100% over before they started. And make no mistake, I’ll pass on it yet again if any of this limp power nonsense still exists.The bigger problem may be the future.
Mustang is going hybrid next year. Full EV is shortly thereafter. So, now what? What does this issue do for Ford’s EV cred once they bring a full Bev Stang GT coupe to market? When all of the EV performance comp is running expected trap speeds etc.? It’s not good.

However, with the new BEV Mustang coupe, one can assume the battery technology will be different, maybe even solid state batteries through Solid Power which Ford is invested in. If it's using different battery tech than the Mach E, maybe the BEV Mustang coupe will be able to run faster, for longer, without battery "danger".The bigger problem may be the future.
