Haven't seen anyone mention this vid yet, apologies if it's somewhere. I looked (ish).

Hints at possible 800v architecture to come???

800v setups seem to charge faster (if you’re into that sorta thing) but isn’t there a tradeoff in low rpm torque?

I thought I read somewhere that the 400v motors make a lot more low end tq which seems to line up with the specs I see. And that blast of acceleration at low speeds is one of the things I love about my GTPE.

Is 800 volt EV like a V12 ICE? or just a faster V8?

Look at Ford!!! Bringing it in-house!!! Very Tesla-esque. Love that they are making it themselves and improving it. Keep it up Ford!!!

Sounds like a fair amount of speculation in the video (800v for example).

One thing that stuck out was the comment that the new motor ā€œallows you to hold on to torque for longer.ā€

That I would like to hear more confirmation of. I’ve never heard the motor being blamed for the limitations on 2021-2023 GTs in that way. Also ā€œholding on to torque longerā€ would result in higher horsepower which doesn’t show up in the specs.

I’ve always thought the limiters were purely software based and based on Ford trying to protect battery components.

We know that the ā€œold motorsā€ are capable of 580 hp (290 each) at least. So it seems like an odd comment that the old motor is limited from a hardware standpoint vs the new one.

I know it has less peak torque, but it’s the ā€œhold on to torque longerā€ comment that has me puzzled.

hp= tq x rpm/5252
