I know I'm late to the party but the reason OP probably thought 300+ mile range is because in Europe (I know OP profile say theyre in US) that's what the MME with extended battery is rated for. I don't fully understand why Europe and US have such different range estimates but I do know the process for testing the range is completely different.

European MME says "
91kWh (98kWh) Extended Range
Drive up to 310 miles on a single chargeā€ ā€

KEY INFORMATION
  • Range: 310 milesā€ ā€
  • Usable Battery Capacity: 91 kWh"

My GT at home charge shows 100% is 225 miles. I think the manufacture has not allowed the full charge of capacity due to concern about fire. The 80% at home restrictions was achieve by update however there is no way I can get to 270 miles with the up to date software.
I think you're thinking of the Chevy Bolt (that has a software limited capacity until the recall is completed). You can use 100% of the available battery capacity on the Mach-E.

And welcome, recommended reading to get you started:

Your understanding is incorrect. First, there is no 80% at home restriction.

Second, it's winter. Range is impacted by cold weather.

Finally, the GOM is inaccurate. Dozens of threads on this.

European MME says " Equipped with an extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, Mustang Machā€‘E has a targeted pure-electric driving range of up to 600 km (more than 370 miles) "
OP is in Atlanta, GA, USA...

Do a Google search on "WLTP vs EPA".

Yes I know that...But can you think of any other reason someone would assume something has 300+ mile range when not a single US advertisement said so?

I could, but then the post would be removed because I referenced a quote of George Carlin's...
